Description
Parlophone PMC 1255, original UK first issue with the outline 'mono' on the front cover.
The Garrod & Lofthouse cover is one of the nicest I've seen and I've seen hundreds in my time. The lamination of the front extends over the spine and three flipback folds leaving a matt rear. And these matt finishes almost always pick up severe grubbiness over the decades but this one is pretty clean. Yes it has a modicum of said grubbiness and age spots along with a tad of ringwear but you can see by the photo it's not too shabby. Plus it feels 'clean' in the hands. And no rips, tears, splits or writing to report. Grading the cover for condition I reckon it's an 8.5 out of 10 job.
For the inner sleeve, it's the original poly-lined 'Emitex' offering. No seam splits but has some age browning and creasing. And again, it feels fresh in the hands.
Onto the vinyl itself which is flat and shiny and weighs 161g on the scale so is a good weight. The labels are quite clean as pictured. Has the requisite 'Sold In The UK' and 'The Gramophone Co.Ltd' on the rim.
The dead wax matrices for Sides 1 & 2 respectively are XEX 549-2 and XEX 505-2.
In room daylight the disc looks nice. Under the evil and unforgiving table light I see light scuffs and hairlines. As a result I give the vinyl 8/10 for condition.
So, this album although not mint is certainly good enough to grace any collection.
99p start, free UK postage and generous to elsewhere.
