This auction is for a rare original 1st pressing of the Beatles legendary LP 'Revolver' on the Parlophone label. This is the mega rare early variation that features the XEX 606-1 matrix in the side 2 deadwax!

When the LP was initially put into production, side 2 had a matrix number of 606-1 and 'Remix 11' of the song 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. The story goes that when the first albums were pressed each Beatle was given a copy to listen to John listened to his and was unhappy with the track Tomorrow Never Knows, and quickly told George Martin. Production was stopped as a new master was prepared with 'Remix 8' of the song being used in replacement, and given the matrix XEX 606-2

These 606-1 presses were only in production for a very, very short amount of time before the mix of TNK was changed. Today they are highly collectible and a must for all Beatle collections!

The Cover : G

The cover is holding up okay, but is showing some damage and general wear and tear along with some writing on the back typical of a young fan back in the '60s. The front has creamed a little and has some light creases in the laminate and some bigger laminate bubbles around the mouth edge. There's some very small pen writing on each Beatle, mainly their names - George and John are just indents now but you can still see Pauls and Ringos. Also a bit of tape yellowing on the mouth edge. Top and bottom seams are holding tightly with no wear. The spine has a few little creases running through it but has no rips or splits and is holding tight. The back has some creasing on the mouthedge and some wear, as you can see. There's some yellowing where it looks like someone had cellotaped something to the back which has long since fallen off. There's writing on the back cover, mostly obscured by the black areas, but is your usual scribbles of a young fan. So, overall, well loved and showing its age, but still holding tight overall.   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : G+

The playing surface has a nice shine to it but has a fair amount of light surface scuffs and some slightly heavier scuffs. However, there's nothing serious or deep or anything. Looking not too bad! In the deadwax it looks like, in the past, it's been left on a record player that didn't automatically stop when the needle reached the middle and there's a circle of wear just out from the label.
.

Labels : VG

The labels are clean but do have a little wear as you can see in the photos above. There's a fair amount of light, faint spindlewear and some whitening around the centrehole..
