BEATLES AND FRANK IFIELD JOLLY WHAT! USA STEREO ORIGINAL Monarch Matrix VJ INNER

Jolly What! The Beatles and Frank Ifield On Stage.

1964 USA pressed VJ Records stereo LP, VJS 1085.

A scarce stereo original, evidenced by the following issue points:

  • The sleeve has excellent print quality without blurred letters or images. Main background colour is dark purple rather than black. STEREO at top centre.

  • The sleeve has spine printing: VJS 1085 JOLLY WHAT! THE BEATLES & FRANK IFIELD.

  • The labels have clear print and the distinctive circular ridge. Notably the colours to the rainbow perimeter are clearly delineated and blend gently into each other. STEREO is printed to the 3 o'clock position of both sides.

  • Side One Matrix (etched): 64-3852 * 6298

  • Side Two Matrix (etched): 64-3853 S * 6298 X (* portrays a triangle symbol).

  • There is also evidence of the Monarch Records logo stamped to both sides (MR in a circle) as well as an Audio Matrix stamp. In all instances these are only partial stamps which is common for this release. However enough is visible to be sure.

  • Finally there is a VJ inner sleeve with colour advertising for other LP releases.

Vinyl visually still very glossy but with some visible scuff marks and gentle scratches.

Playback is actually a solid EX.The cut is loud and bright and sounds great with just a fraction of unobtrusive low level background crackle.

    Labels are clean and unmarked.

Inner sleeve still fairly clean and bright. Corner creasing, quite heavily so to bottom corners. Couple of small puncture holes bottom left. Neat tear to left hand top seam, running about a third of the sleeve. Original gum strips visible to left and right edges.

External sleeve fairly well preserved. The usual light whitening rubbing to front panel, but very lightly and unobtrusively so. Rear panel slightly soiled and with a slightly oily residue patch top right. Tiny penned digit to top left rear and previous owner stamp to top centre rear. No seam splits but some whitening rubbing to edges. Spine has escaped the worst of this. Corners slighty rubbed. Bottom right corner slightly knocked.

All in all a quite nice example of this fairly scarce early USA Beatles stereo LP.
