Description
This auction is for the Beatles Abbey Road, an original UK Stereo 1st pressing with the misaligned apple logo on the back cover. The dark green Apple labels do not have the “Her Majesty” credit, and the album has its original black inner sleeves. This is a very early 1st pressing of Abbey Road.
Although somewhat rare, misaligned stereo copies can be found. However, this copy is in excellent condition and certainly stands out against the rest.
Cat. No. PCS 7088. Matrix numbers: YEX 749-2 & YEX 750-1. Stampers: 4/OMO & 4/MAH. The labels are in excellent condition, very strong colors, crisp and clear, flawless except for some faint spindle marks.
The vinyl is in superb condition, excellent (+). There are no scratches, marks or hairlines, and only a few of the faintest paper scuffs visible under strong light. The labels and vinyl are beautiful, with that just-pressed look.
The play quality is excellent. There is no loud pops, skips or nasty crackle. There is only faint crackle detectable in some songs and a few faint clicks. There are a few noticeable clicks on “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”, but not nasty. This copy is rated at excellent. This is a listening pleasure, powerful and very clean UK audio.
The album cover is beautiful, rated at excellent (-). There is no edge wear, no spine wear, no corner wear, only a few light creases, and one faint hairline mark on the front cover (above George). There is some very mild lamination rubbing visible around the edge area. The original black Apple inner sleeve is very good with no splits.
This LP was sourced in the UK by a reputable and well-established UK dealer about 5 years ago when I acquired my UK Beatles collection. It has not been played even once since I purchased it, other than my initial play to verify condition upon purchase, and just recently once again to have one more listen to this incredible sounding UK music. There is nothing that sounds like an excellent condition UK 1st press Beatles album… certainly no CD sounds like this. I am now selling off my prized collection of UK Beatles albums.
