Beatles - Abbey Road
Apple Records ?– PCS 7088, misprint, 1st Press EMI inner sleeve released: UK 26 Sep 1969
This first press has variations on the sleeve. The apple logo IS misaligned with the rest of the text & Her Majesty is also missing from the sleeve and vinyl label. On front cover photo is somewhat larger than usual sleeve. The picture shows less of the trees and crosswalk (upper and bottom right). Small ? on labels.
Original inner sleeve is black, smooth on the exterior and rough on the inside. However most copies of exactly this release came in a white "Patent..." inner sleeve. There is some doubt about these black inners. Some say that if they really existed (a lot of the original white ones have been replaced with non-original black ones), then in very small quantities (leftovers from Yellow Submarine). But, they are not an indicator for a first pressing. There seem to exist some black inners together with the "Majesties" credit on the label and even black inners in combination with an aligned apple. The reason for these variations is that the process of assembling covers, records and inners was not linear.
