Description

BEATLES
Abbey Road
[PARLOPHONE/APPLE PCS 7088 TEST PRESSING]

Sleeve condition: EX
Vinyl condition: EX- (a-side) / VG+ (b-side)

Early in September 1969 this white label pre-release TEST PRESSING was sent out to a scandinavian journalist who was active at the time of release for "Abbey Road". I have acquired this ULTRA RARE piece of Beatles history directly from this journalist. No one else has ever owned this record.

The LP is housed in an ordinary Apple sleeve, despite being sent out as a Parlophone export test pressing as far as I can tell.

The inner sleeve is white and it is NOT the later white sleeve with an assigned patent number printed on it. The white inner sleeve on this copy has got "PATENT APPLIED FOR" printed on it indicating that this is the very earliest batch of sleeves that were made.

The white inner sleeve has got an original "label copy" glued onto it which has got all the information about this record type-machine-printed onto it (click on the image on the right side to see it in full size). The "label copy" indicates PARLOPHONE as the "trade mark", APPLE as its "label colour" and PCS 7088 as its "coupling number"

This is the VERY FIRST pressing of this record and it was made from the YEX 749-2 (a-side) / YEX 750-1 (b-side ) stampers.

The text on the white labels on the actual record has been written by the journalist that recieved this record. The labels were completely white when he first got the record, but he wrote down the names of the songs on each side to easier be able to navigate between the tracks.

The fully laminated outer sleeve is in superb condition. The white inner sleeve has got some wrinkles and a complete seam split on the left side but still looks great. The actual vinyl is clean except for a couple of very light scratches, but it plays with some light background noise during the quiet passages (especially on the b-side), so I have supplied soundclips of tracks on both sides below and you can hear what it sounds like for yourself.
