Description
For sale is an extremely rare, possibly unique, 7" one-sided Acetate by Slade. The single, "How Does It Feel?" was released on 7th February 1975 (and entered the chart exactly 40 years ago on the date of this listing!). The track was the second and final single taken from the soundtrack album to the film "Flame" starring Slade and reached number 15. Despite its comparatively lowly chart showing for the band at that time, it has long been regarded by both critics and fans alike as one of the best, if not the best Slade singles to be released and marked a major departure from their more glam rock offerings. It was effectively used as the theme tune for the film, which itself is still regarded as one of the best examples of its genre.
This copy is on the Beatles Apple label and has the date 7/2/75 (the release date) written in pen on it. The label itself is printed "Apple Corps Ltd. 3 Savile Row London W1" and "Custom Recording" around the outside and the words "How Does It Feel", "Slade" and "Stereo" are typed onto it. The reverse of the Acetate is completely blank.
I have owned this Acetate since c.1980 and it has been played once only since that time (this was immediately upon purchasing it). It has been well looked after in a smoke-free home and kept in a dust-free case throughout this time. The plain white cardboard sleeve is autographed by Slade members Noddy Holder and Dave Hill, who I met on many occasions following the band on various tours, TV shows, public appearances, etc. Please note that the Acetate was not in the sleeve at the point of signing, so it would not have been damaged in any way as a result.
Not only is this a superb rarity, certain to be of interest to fans of both Slade and The Beatles as well as record collectors generally, it also represents a potentially excellent future investment as the market for these items have seen significant increases in value over recent years.
