StRAIGHT UP is Badfinger's best-known album and perhaps the most definitive example of their sparkling brand of Beatles-influenced pop. Expertly produced by George Harrison and Todd Rundgren, this 1972 album spawned two hit singles (both written by group leader Pete Ham): the romantic ballad "Day After Day" (Badfinger's only gold record) and "Baby Blue", a soaring power pop classic that is still regularly played on rock radio stations. Most people remember Badfinger for those two songs, but the 10 other tracks on STRAIGHT UP are equally impressive.
Less rock-oriented than their previous album NO DICE (although guitarist Joey Molland contributes several excellenthigh-energy rock songs like "Sometimes" and "Suitcase"), the majority of STRAIGHT UP consists of gentle, melodic songs like Molland's folkish "Sweet Tuesday Morning" and superb Pete Ham compositions like the epic existentialist ballad "Name Of The Game".

The dark green Apple labels to both sides are in superb condition. When closely inspected under a bright light the labels have no more than two spindle trails present to either side.. Both sides are clean, vivid and strong examples of these early Apple DEMO labels.
Clealry having received no more than two very careful plays the glossy vinyl is stunning. Again close inpection under a bright light reveals just very light, wispy surface marks caused by the vinyl being removed from its sleeve. The vinyl lies perfectly flat with no warping and there is no dulling or blemishes to the playing surface
Delivering a flawless audio this album plays through with no pops, sticks or jumps and has just no crackle evident to the run in grooves. The strong stereo audio portrays a rich and vibrant sound throughout.
The original Black inner (which carries its printed patent number 1,12555 and "Made in England" text) is superb with just very light signs of handling and some expected creases. The inner is intact with no splits or tears...these early printed Black inners are somewhat rare.
The outer Garod and Lofthouse laminated sleeve is also superb. It displays some light creases but nothing really severe, mainly edge wrinkles and thumbnail creases and one deeper creaase to the rear.. The opening edge is still straight and true with just a hint of handling visible. The spine is perfectly rigid with no creases e.t.c. and the factory pinched ends are intact with all wording readable. The sleeve is completely intact and is of course free from writing e.t.c.
Overall a superb and twice played example of this very rare uk Apple DEMO release which offers STUNNING vinyl/labels, 1st stampers and delivers a near flawless audio and is complete with its origianl black printed inner..
