Description
Beatles 3rd State Peeled LA #6 Butcher Cover Jacket Only
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
This is a one time re-list and the lowest priced genuine peel we have offered. This is a no brainer for somebody looking to purchase a peel for a starting bid of under $500 that doesn't look like it's ready for the trash can...
If you've been looking for a rarer peeled LA #6 Mono Butcher Cover that you'd like to frame that won't make you deplete your savings account, then this one might be for you. Low opening bid ! Although we rarely offer lower condition jackets, this is an exception. Not for the extremely picky buyer but for the entry level buyer that wants a genuine 3rd state to frame that will display well even though there are a few structural considerations with the seams and back. While not a completely perfect peel (due to damage caused by the original or previous owner), this is an entry level jacket that was rescued from mediocrity or worse - more damage from an amateur peeling attempt. Please see detailed condition below for specifics.
The worst issue of this jacket is that it was separated (front and back) and damaged by various different variations of tape used to tape the seams (one type that was extremely sticky and difficult to remove). The peel is still decent with a few touch ups most notable on the black pants areas at the bottom of the jacket due to damage caused by the significant tape residue. This would still look just about as great as a much more costly example if properly framed and won't cause you to skip your mortgage to purchase. Certainly one of the lower priced genuine Butcher Cover on the net that presents this well. Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition and more about this jacket.
Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered for Capitol Records by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a difficult to remove adhesive. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. Look around and compare. Perhaps not for the super picky collector, but that special someone who wants a rarer and harder to peel LA Butcher Cover. Please check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare. (See last photo for 2nd state during peel).
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:
Front Peeled Butcher Slick although not perfect, presents better than most #6 peels on the market, especially in this price range. Nice colors and if professionally framed, this would really present nearly as well as a much more expensive example, and the back of the jacket, seams etc wouldn't be a visible issue at that point. Some touch up, mostly in the areas of the black pant legs at the bottom, due to a heavy duct type tape that was on the jacket, most noticeable near Ringo's knee. Also, there is touch up to the bottom border due to tape staining from the tape on the bottom and the bottom right hand corner has some wear and cardboard loss at the end of that corner. (Please see photos for exact condition).
Please see photos to verify specific condition and feel free to contact with questions.
Seams:
Top and bottom seams were completely split and re-adhered with hinging tape.
Due to this condition, a record should never be attempted to be forced into this jacket.
Spine:
Spine was completely split and mended with hinging tape. As a result, spine writing/paper is missing. (See Spine photos).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket is poor with touch up, check marks, tears, staining etc. The very top cardboard strip part of the back border is missing with the exception of the small piece remaining on the end near the catalog number at the top of the sleeve. The jacket pieces are aligned exactly correctly at the bottom either. Evidently this was attached for posterity only rather than remain loose. This is why this is the perfect example to be professionally framed.(see photo of back of jacket).
Trunk Slick:
Sorry but there is no trunk slick included. (See last photos for jacket during peeling process).
Record/Inner Sleeve:
Auction is for jacket only. There is no inner sleeve or record included.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $29.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $29.99. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
T-Shirt Seen in Background on first few photos is NOT INCLUDED.
Thank You !
Please note that there was a slight typo in the following sentence : "The jacket pieces are aligned exactly correctly at the bottom either. Evidently this was attached for posterity only rather than remain loose". This should read : The jacket pieces aren't aligned exactly correctly at the bottom either. Evidently this was attached for posterity only rather than remain loose.
