Beatles 3rd State Awesome Peeled LA #6 Butcher Cover
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
If you've been looking for a genuine and authentic 3rd State (peeled) LA #6 Mono Butcher Cover that you will be proud to display and treasure but are not overly concerned about perfect seams and spine, then this might be for you ! This Jacket is an excellent value that presents nicely and would look great matted and framed. This is head and shoulders above most offerings you see under 1k.
These nicely peeled #6 jackets are much harder to come by in such displayable condition.
Although it is sad each week to see more and more recently poorly peeled covers go up for sale, the good news is that jackets such as this that present well are only increasing in value as more and more get destroyed each week by amateur peel attempts. TheButcherCover, in contrast to these notable amateur efforts, have consistently and correctly peeled hundreds of the most difficult examples from every Capitol manufacturing plant (#2,#3,#5,#6) for over 4 decades. These examples have been exhibited in books, youtube and many other notable outlets for decades. Many of these folks buy our jackets that were peeled by TheButcherCover and flip them at a higher price. You have a choice, bid wisely and look around before buying.
Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition.
Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered for Capitol Records by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a difficult to remove adhesive. These cannot be "steamed" off. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. Look around and compare. Please check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare.
While the market is currently getting flooded with overhyped/over-graded peels with large obvious large scars/damage/paper residue etc, the good news is that this particular Butcher Slick look awesome, which is unusual especially in regard to these particular Los Angeles examples. Due to the difficulty of the peel, these LA Butcher Covers are much harder to come by in displayable condition. But don't just take our word for it, look around and compare what you are buying for what price. Take a close look at the photos and please see below for specific condition description.
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:
Front Peeled Butcher Slick is awesome and presents nicely from a professional peeling process. Beautiful colors and presentation on this one and many feel that the LA Jackets in general have a richer look color wise. This is one of those examples where you can actually part of the bench that John Lennon is sitting on.
There is a slight impression near the song titles where it appears that the original owner wrote their name and phone number on the trunk slick. They must have used a great degree of pressure in doing so but this in only noticeable upon very close inspection. Other than this, there are no other major issues (big tears, stains, writing, etc) with this Butcher Slick. Any touch up on this would be very minimal as this looks gorgeous, especially for the harder to peel #6 LA example.
Please see photos to verify the specific conditions (photos may vary slightly in colors, shading, etc due to different lighting sources used during photography) described and feel free to contact with questions. The item shown is exact item that you will receive and is a nice example of a west coast peel.
Seams:
Top seam appears to have some paper loss and a split of several inches near the end of that seam. Bottom seam also appears to have several inches of splitting and appears to have been secured with paper hanging tape. To protect the integrity of what remains of these seams and avoid future damage, a record should never be attempted to be placed into this jacket (See close up photos of seams).
Spine:
Spine was mostly split with paper loss and like the seams was properly secured with archival quality paper hinging tape. Although cracked, much of the title still remains on the spine. (See Spine photos).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket displays nicely with only light wear and mild to average tanning and light stains. (see photos of back of jacket).
Trunk Slick:
Sorry but no trunk slick included on this one. Please see video showing peeling process.
Record:
Comes complete with West Coast mono pressing in VG+ visual condition ( Some light scratches/sleeve scuffs). Has been play graded and plays through nicely without any major issues. Correct West Coast Goldenrod CAPITOL INNER SLEEVE with this record in decent shape with a few small tears. Record will come in an archival quality anti static sleeve.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $34.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $34.99. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
Please not that T- Shirt seen in background is NOT INCLUDED in this auction and is for display purposes only.
Thank You !
