Both of John Lennon's first two solo singles were issued in 1969, before The Beatles broke up. Give Peace A Chance has become an anthem for starry-eyed dreamers everywhere, to pacifists what We Shall Overcome was to the civil rights movement. Cold Turkey is undoubtedly the most harrowing single ever to make the Top 40.
