THE BEATLES

LOVE ME DO ~ FIRST RELEASE SINGLE FROM 1962

LOVE ME DO
b/w
P.S. I LOVE YOU

Catalogue numbers Parlophone 45-R 4949

First press matrix numbers 7XCE 17144-1N & 7XCE 17145-1N, with RINGO on drums and NO tambourine

"RECORDING FIRST
PUBLISHED 1962"
"The Parlophone Co. Ltd. & All rights reserved" text

"MADE IN GT. BRITAIN" text on BOTH sides

This has the CORRECT "ZT" tax code valid from 10th April 1962 until 26th November 1962 stamped in the run off groove. This gives a window of just 53 days when this tax code was valid and given how slowly the record sold, it peaked at number 17, this must be one of the very very early releases. Not only that but it has incredibly early mothers and stampers

Side 1 Mother 1 at 9 o'clock and stamper L at three o'clock
Single letter stampers are incredibly rare as you would imagine
Side 2 Mother 1 at 9 o'clock and stamper GG at three o'clock

Released on 5th October 1962 ~ a true slice of pop history & becoming increasingly hard to find. This has the 1N matrices on both sides indicating RINGO on drums and NO tambourine version. The record plays as EX+ on BOTH sides. This means there is NO background noise at all. There may be some surface marks but any of these will be non sounding.. Comes in an original contemporary Type B Parlophone sleeve.

Look at the matrix numbers in the photo.
