Description

BEATLES LP PLEASE PLEASE ME 1963 MONO Yellow /Black  PARLOPHONE in NICE EX COND.

On offer is a LOVELY condition BEATLES LP - PLEASE PLEASE ME - released in the UK in MONO on the yellow-black PARLOPHONE label PARLOPHONE PMC 1202 in 1963. I would overall grade this as an EX-/VG picture sleeve cover with a lovely EX disc that plays SUPERBLY WELL and as such this would be a nice addition to a Beatles collection

This particular pressing is the MONO 2ndYellow / Black pressing - with the ‘‘THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD.’ / ‘RECORDINGFIRST PUBLISHED 1963’ label text but without ‘Sold in the UK…’  The LP has the Ernest J. Day & Co sleeve and comes with its original ‘USE EMITEX’ polythene lined inner sleeve. The cover has the large ‘mono’ on the front cover.

This is a very nice condition original PLEASE PLEASE ME MONO as follows –

  • The vinyl is visually in extremely nice clean and clear condition with a lovely sheen to it. The grading of the disc is a LOVELY EX condition; it is very nice indeed.
  • I have test played the LP for this auction (for the first time in many years!) and it sounds great! To play it is a treat: it has a lovely full sound – very rich with absolutely no off-putting background surface noise at all. It is very silent between tracks: which always indicates a good quality disc!
  • The Matrix numbers are: Side 1: XEX 421-1N. Side 2: XEX 422-1N.
  • The disc has nice clear, clean labels on both sides of the LP. There is a tiny amount of spindle mark. The label has ‘THE PARLOPHONE CO.LTD.’ ‘RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963’ text and has the K.T. tax code [on the Side 2 label].
  • The FRONT cover of the Ernest J Day laminated flip-back picture sleeve is in EX- condition. It has a very clean and clear front picture sleeve with some minor creasing only and a tiny loss of laminate in the top left hand corner [by the red/blue PARLOPHONE  logo].The back (non-laminated) cover is in VG condition: it has some pen marks on it and a name written on it [Eileen Helliwell] but NO seam splits.
  • The LP has been kept stored in a plastic sleeve for the many years I have owned it. It is a clean and tidy LP sleeve [apart from the writing by a previous owner].
  • The spine is nice and clear as well with the credits –Please Please Me – The Beatles being clearly visible.
  • The LP has its original ‘USE EMITEX’ Parlophone inner –which is in intact and in VG condition: ever since I purchased this LP many years ago I have kept the disc housed in a white inner (which will also be supplied to the winner) to protect the original EMITEX inner.

Track listing is as follows (note tracks are Lennon-McCartney compositions unless otherwise stated):- I Saw Her Standing There/  Misery / Anna (Go to him) [Alexander]/ Chains [Goffin/King] /  Boys[Dixon/Farrell] /  Ask Me Why / Please Please Me /  Love Me Do /  P.S. I Love You / Baby It's You[David/Williams/Bacharach] / Do You Want To Know A Secret / A Taste Of Honey [Scott/Marlow] / There's A Place / Twist And Shout [Medley/Russell].
