Description

BEATLES *PRISTINE MINT* MEGA RARE '68 MONO HEY JUDE/REVOLUTION WITH SUPER RARE **MINT** WHITE 'THE BEATLES ON APPLE'  SLEEVE
This Stunning 1968 Hey Jude 45 is MINT PRISTINE showing Zero play, with Mint labels with NO writing. The super rare sleeve is *MINT* with NO seam splits, NO writing, NO rips, NO tears and NO residue. Just the *Mint* 'The Beatles on Apple' sleeve alone, I've sold for over $200 in the past on eBay !! These sleeves pop up on a very limited occasion, but never as nice as this one with sharp corners. The paper stock of these sleeves are less then half as thick as that of the Black sleeves, and that is why not many of these are known to exist today. Most got easily ripped and were immediately thrown out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Jude was the last MONO 45 to be issued by The Beatles in Canada on Aug 26 1968. Apple Canada had the sliced side of the apple rotated such that the text was horizontally written across the sliced apple with the stem pointing straight out at the right of the label, as opposed to the US where the stem points towards the top. Apple was introduced in Canada through a special event where were presented the first 4 Apple singles which included Hey Jude.

These 45s were pressed by both Compo and RCA, Compo having a much thicker font. Compo pressed 80-90% of all Hey Jude singles. Out of the first 4 Apple singles, only Hey Jude was also pressed by RCA, due to high demand. This one being offered here for sale is the Compo pressing with white sleeve

Original Compo copies were issued in a special white paper Apple company sleeve stating 'THE BEATLES ON APPLE' as opposed to RCA copies that were sold in standard black Apple sleeve, with only the single word APPLE at the top. It's virtually impossible to find one this stunningly mint !!

This amazing rare sleeve was issued August 26, 1968 while the other sleeves were issued in May 1969 and October 1969 on Beatles 45s pressed by Compo, in Canada. Records pressed by RCA used the more common black sleeve. Earlier, and some later Beatles and other Apple artists, including early John Lennon singles, were issued with white sleeves on 45's pressed by Compo, that just had the single word 'Apple' on the sleeve. They only used 'The Beatles on Apple' sleeve a few months, after the 'Hey Jude' single. The only three Canadian Beatles singled, pressed by Compo, where they used this super rare white sleeve were Hey Jude/Revolution, released August 26th 1968, Get Back/Don't Let Me Down, released in Canada May 5th 1969, and Something/Come Together released October 6th, 1969. The paper stock of these sleeves are less then half as thick as that of the Black sleeves, and that is why not many of these are known to exist today. Most got very easily ripped and were immediately thrown out.
