This is a No Reserve auction of a stunning, guaranteed authentic and genuine 1966 3rd State (peeled) Butcher Cover package that features a 1966 original Mono Capitol 3rd state (peeled) version of the legendary Butcher Cover that comes complete with the removed trunk slick, original Capitol inner sleeve w/record, Certificate of Peeling and Authenticity and more interesting and free fun extras than you will find anywhere. If you've always wanted a quality genuine Butcher Cover but don't want to mortgage the house, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE, TAKE A SHOT ! Why waste money on a reproduction when you can have the real deal ? This Butcher Cover is a Guaranteed, 1966 Capitol Issue or YOUR MONEY BACK ! The look of this peel will blow you away ! Just look and compare to what is currently out there on the market. All photos are of the actual item that you are bidding on.

Most importantly, please examine the photos and compare. We consistently offer the best quality Butcher Covers at the best price. You may see other peeled butchers that range from destroyed to excellent, but look closely at ours and you will see the difference. You may find offers for "near mint pro peeled" Butcher Covers that exhibit pronounced streaks, blotches and prominent glue lines. Most folks don't realize that some of these issues are not only caused by the pasteover process but also sometimes by the peeling process itself. You may see advertisements for peeled Butchers that have a "first state look", but if you look closely for the prominence of the lines, blotches, smears or residue, such claims of a "first state look" are inaccurate. We've pioneered a series of techniques over a period of years that minimize, and in many instances, nearly eliminate such issues.

About Us and The Peeling Process

We have been performing professional peels, poster restoration art and professional custom archival framing for more than two decades and our work has been displayed in galleries and sold by some of the world's most renowned memorabilia dealers and largest auction houses around the world. We've been credited in the past two decades as a contributor to several prominent Beatles memorabilia guides. We've been selling quality genuine Beatles memorabilia on Ebay since 1998 and have worked professionally in the music industry for over three decades. If you look around, you may see that our ad style and free giveaways have been relentlessly copied by others over the years. If you are confused by this and see what you think may be a copycat ad, take a closer look on the feedback page and see who's actually been selling longer.

The photos you see are of the exact item that is being offered for sale. All professional peeling and or restoration to any piece we sell is done strictly in house. We aren't secondary market sellers that sent our jackets out to be peeled. Our 2nd state pieces never leave our site and are never sent out to others for peeling or restoration work and therefore we can vouch 100% to what work has been performed and have complete forensic records of same to insure your confidence of authenticity. All of our butchers come with a stamped COA certifying the history of the cover being purchased. 3rd states of displayable quality are getting harder to come by these days.

Keep in mind that what you usually won't hear is that nearly every 2nd state Butcher Cover slick has been at least slightly damaged or discolored by the pasteover process at the Capitol factory and this is why you will often see the prominent horizontal lines or round circles on these jackets. So when you read "no touch ups" regarding a peeled Butcher Cover being offered for sale, look very closely for just how prominent the lines, streaks or rings are and compare. It's fairly laughable when it comes right down to it as you can see the imperfections a mile away. We're not here to bs anyone for the greed factor but we can honestly say this because we actually perform work every day for many customers all over the world that entrust their Butcher Covers to us. We've found that most of our customers don't want to see these issues on their peeled Butcher Covers. Just like professional poster restoration, we feel it is important to restore the cover closer to the look that it had prior to getting hit with glue application during the pasteover process. This is a tedious process that takes many hours to complete and this is why we can say that our process takes the jacket much closer to a first state look.

Our great Ebay buyers have been thrilled with their Genuine Butcher Covers and here's what some of them have had to say recently:

PLEASE CHECK OUR FEEDBACK FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION REGARDING THE MANY PAST SALES OF GENUINE BUTCHER COVERS.

Although current auction results and price guide book values have listed or sold similar or even lesser quality 3rd state mono copies conservatively @ $1200 and up,our beautiful genuine Butcher album package can be yours for the higest bid with NO RESERVE !

History and Terminology Of The Butcher Cover

For those who don't know, this is the famous album that was banned by Capitol records prior to release in 1966 and then covered over with the more familiar trunk cover. The butcher scene was deemed too gruesome for the general public. As a result, Capitol destroyed a great quantity of these but eventually found it more economical to cover the offending jacket with the more familiar trunk cover.

For terminology sake: 1st state: is a copy that was never covered over with a trunk cover. They are extremely rare and were practically never sold in stores and only used as promos for radio and sales managers. 2nd state: is a butcher cover with the trunk cover pasted over. 3rd state: Is a 2nd state butcher cover that has had its trunk cover(hopefully professionally) removed.

Our reserves are the most reasonable on Ebay ! First state butchers have sold for as much as $40,000! You can own a real 3rd state butcher for a tiny fraction of that cost. These are quickly being snatched up by collectors as fast as they appear.

As you can see from the photo , this is a truly gorgeous example of this rare treasure.

SPECIFIC CONDITION OF THIS ITEM IS AS FOLLOWS :

The front cover, as you can see from the photos, is outstanding. NICE VIBRANT, ACCURATE COLORS THROUGHTOUT ! Although this is a 3rd state, this piece truly has A FIRST STATE LOOK ! Factory glue lines, residue, etc is practically non existent. There are only a few minor condition considerations on this piece and as you can see from the extremely detailed photos, they are a non issue. You will be proud to display this piece. The removed trunk slick is included with some wrinkling and wear and tear.

The spine and seams on this one are nice on this one and far better than average from what we usually see.The spine is complete and all writing is legible. The bottom seam is complete with NO SPLITS. There is just a few inches of beginning crack at the very center of the top seam and that has been neatly and professionally secured and is now pretty much a non issue. Other than this, any professional touch up is minimal and nothing that even translates to the photos. There is a bit bit of wrinkling in the bottom left hand corner on the back, but again, we stress to look at the photos as they really don't interfere with the beauty of the piece. Overall, the back of the jacket is fairly white and clean with very light signs of aging or wear.

Although this jacket is in nice shape and a record and inner sleeve can comfortably fit inside, we strictly advise against attempting to place a record and inner sleeve inside the jacket as doing this would cause possible future pressure and damage to seams and 40 year old paper. This auction includes an original Capitol orange inner sleeve and mono record in at least VG+ condition with NM labels. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE ARE HONEST IN GRADING AND THE REAL PERSPECTIVE OF THIS PIECE IS HOW IT APPEARS IN THE PHOTOS. This is a NO RESERVE auction starting at ONE PENNY !.

WE STRIVE TO BE COMPLETELY ACCURATE WHEN DESCRIBING ITEMS.CONDITION AND DESCRIPTION IS OFTEN SUBJECTIVE AND THEREFORE WE STRESS ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT CONDITION SHOULD CONTACT US FOR FURTHER EXPLANATION PRIOR TO BIDDING.PLEASE EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS AND CHECK OUR FEEDBACK FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WITH THESE COVERS.COVER COMES WITH A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY SPECIFYING THAT IT IS INDEED A GENUINE 3RD STATE BUTCHER AND CERTIFYING THE PEELING PROCESS AND CHAIN OF CUSTODY FROM 2ND TO 3RD STATE.ALSO INCLUDED IS A PACKET OF FUN INFORMATION AND HISTORY ABOUT THE BUTCHER COVER THAT YOU WILL FIND NOWHERE ELSE !

Overall, as you can see from the photos, this is a gorgeous example of this legendary treasure. Although this is a very nice specimen, it is a used item and is being auctioned in "as is" condition as seen in the photographs of the actual item. Please examine the photos for details and condition.
