THE BEATLES
'PLEASE PLEASE ME'
UK Parlophone Label LP Mono Cat No PMC 1202
Original Black and Gold Label
This copy bears the Matrix No. XEX 421 -1N in the run-out groove (dead wax) of Side 1. On Side 2 the Matrix No is XEX 422-1N. This is the original and rare first issue of the LP with the Black and Gold Label, and with Publishing Credits to Dick James Mus. Co.
I have listed this LP because of its rarity and collectability. The condition is not great. There are visible large scratches on both surfaces. Having said that, it does play without too much interference and both surfaces are clean and shiny having been cleaned professionally. There are no stickers or writing on the label. The spindleware is considerable. I would rate the vinyl as Fair using the RECORD COLLECTOR GUIDE to Condition Rating. The Vinyl comes in a standard EMI polylined inner sleeve.
The outer sleeve has damage along the seams on the back. It is clear that a previous owner has attempted to fix it with white adhesive tape but it has become detached at the top left hand edge closest to the opening edge. There is a tear approx 3 inches long there. There is fraying and wear on all edges and a split approx 4" long at the bottom.
A previous owner has written their name above the printed 'George Harrison' on the back. In general, the sleeve is untidy but it is in one piece. For protection, I will store the item in a standard 12" perspex sleeve in which it will be dispatched.
I would rate the condition of the sleeve as Fair.
The item will be lovingly packaged for shipment anywhere in the World. For information, I pack record and sleeve separately within the same package to avoid damage or 'splitting' during transit. I use Recorded Post for all shipments. Every care is taken to ensure the item reaches the winning bidder in the best condition possible.
