On offer is a very rare 1966 UK mono 1st Pressing that was withdrawn very quickly.

This example is the ultra rare 606-1 mono 1st pressing with the wrong mix of 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. This mix is known as "Remix 11".

John Lennon insisted this pressing was withdrawn as he didn't like the mix used for this track.

It is the earliest 1st pressing produced way before the release date with the rare XEX - 606 -1 side two mono matrix - only a very few copies made it to the shops before the pressing was changed.

Personally I think the 'Tomorrow Never Knows' track sounds better than the replacement mix - the seagull type effects are far more more prominent and the piano ending is also longer - there are of course other more subtle differences.

In addition to the above the 1st pressings listed DR. ROBERT as 'DR.' whilst the later versions listed it as DOCTOR ROBERT. This copy lists DR. ROBERT on both the side 2 label and the cover.

This copy also has the GARRARD & LOFTHOUSE printed cover whilst more common later pressings have the ERNEST J. DAY & CO.LTD printed cover.

So there can be no doubt that this is a copy of the earliest and rarest mono 1st pressing you can buy.

** Yellow and black Parlophone label.
** DR. ROBERT credit on record label and cover.
** Earliest 1st press 606-1 mono record.
** Original 1st press 'PATENTS APPLIED FOR' and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' inner sleeve.
** Earliest 1st press GARROD & LOFTHOUSE flipback laminated front mono cover.

The record is pressed on thick quality vinyl. The matrix numbers are XEX 605-2 & YEX 606-1.
The Cat. No is PMC 7009.
The outer cover is in overall very nice condition - the original tapering spine is in superb condition although there is some light feathering and ageing on the opening edges.  I would rate the cover as between VG and VG+.

The record labels are in superb condition (see pictures) but the original owner marked the '£' logo on side 1 to identify his copy.

The vinyl still has the just pressed gloss look and I would rate it as between VG and VG+.

Record collector grading system:
*  Excellent (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

*  Very good (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable     surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

I have listened to this LP through AKG K550 headphones on a Bang & Olufsen deck with a MMC 20S cartridge and when played there is some light background crackle throughout - more noticeable between tracks and very quiet passages. This is to be expected from a 49 year old record but does not spoil the listening enjoyment. These are very sensitive headphones which pick up every detail. When played through the same deck with Bang & Olufsen speakers the background crackle is reduced a lot. There are no skips or jumps.

The record will be exceptionally well packed and protected in heavy duty packaging for safe delivery.

I have tried to be 100% accurate with my description so please check out the pics very carefully and email with any questions.
