Original mono pressings of Rubber Soul were mastered louder and are nicknamed the "loud cut." These have "-1" at the end of the matrix numbers. These were pressed only for the first two days. MANY SAY THE LOUD CUT VERSION OF RUBBER SOUL IS A SUPERIOR SOUND TO THE LATER (CORRECTED) VERSIONS, WHICH I HAVE TO AGREE WITH.

THERE WERE ONLY A LIMITED AMOUNT PRESSED AND THE MATRIX IS THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE FOR THIS EARLY 1ST PRESS XEX 1579-1 580-1

(The Rubber Soul loud cut is defined by the matrix numbers on the run-out groove ending "-1". The 'corrected' pressing has the matrix "-4".)

Vinyl - EXCELLENT condition

a lovely piece of glossy vinyl. with a few faint marks and hairlines. A really nice example. There are some light surface marks which do not affect the play. Plays through without skips jumps or repeats and the sound quality is excellent plus. Strong rich sound throughout. What a fantastic album and its great to hear it in this very limited LOUD CUT

- This great record plays up to the high visual grading and beyond . this vinyl has strong, undistorted sound with no evidence of any groove-wear whatsoever, and minimal surface sound.

Cover - EXCELLENT PLUS. original Ernest J. Day cover

the front is EXCELLENT, with a lovely shine. there is some scuffing to the edges,and some light laminate creasing, but it is very minimal. the opening edge is very square and totally un frayed. the flip backs are totally intact with virtually no creasing. the back cover is free from discolouration but does of course have some yellowing. the Spine and spine text is totally intact. MY RECORD GRADING SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS - (BASED ON RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE U.K. )

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.

FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
