Description
Artist: THE BEATLES
Title: “Revolver”
Label: CAPITOL ~ ST-8-2576. Labels are orange with black text, with “Longines Symphonette” in small text box above song titles, and around the top of label.
Year: early 70s Longines Record Club Pressing.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is NEAR MINT with 100% of original gloss, as clean as can be found. Appears to have been played one or two times at most, and handled with care. Labels are clean. Fidelity is superb. A gorgeous disc you will never need to upgrade.
JACKET: Jacket is EXCELLENT with nice clean panels. Seams, spine, and corners have light wear. Surfaces are excellent. Reverse is clean with no writing, stickers, or cutout indications. Overall a very fine jacket.
Very rare Longines Symphonette Society pressing!
Background:
Rare Longines record club pressing on the harder to find Orange label club pressing. In November, 1972, Capitol changed their label style to an "all orange" label. So too did the record club. By this time, the club was on the wane, though, and only one Beatles record is known on this style: Cover has the three white diagonal stripes on the left upper corner, the ST-8-2576 number on the spine and on the back and the number '16' in a small white square on the back bottom right under the RIAA logo.
The Capitol Records RECORD CLUB enticed people to join by offering half-dozen or so "free" records in exchange for the new member buying one record and agreeing to club membership rules. After Longines (Longines-Wittnauer Company) took over the Club in 1968, Capitol quit supplying albums to the club, instead Longines arranged for the manufacture of Capitol albums using cover artwork and label backdrops supplied by Capitol. The LP back covers have three angled black bars in the upper right hand corner which wrap around to the front cover in the upper left hand corner, and do not have the "File Under" information. Longines also altered the record number of the LPs by adding the number "8" to the prefix. By the time Longines began pressing Capitol Beatles albums in 1968, Mono discs have been phased out. Thus, there are no Mono Longines pressings of Beatles albums.
