BEATLES, Rubber Soul, UK MONO B/Y Parlophone 2nd PRESS
The Beatles, Rubber Soul.
1965 UK second pressing Parlophone mono LP, PMC 1267.Earliest black and yellow label with "Sold In UK" etc. text at centre of record labels, and "The Gramophone Co." at perimeters.
K/T tax code embossed to centre of A side label.

Visually a strong VG issue. A few spider trail marks visible around the spindle areas, although not to the usual degree seen with this LP, and centre areas are not worn or whitened. Surfaces have a very high gloss still. A few light hairline marks and scuffs, three or four of which are slightly more immediately visible. No deep scratches or digs however.
Playback has been tested in entirety, not just sampled, and this is a surprisingly clean sounding LP throughout.The surfaces do not have continuous underlying background noise or crackle, and even the run-in and band separators are impressively quiet. There are no clicks or ticks bar a couple of consecutive mid-level ticks, one at the band separator before "Think For Yourself", followed by one at the very beginning of the track. Else sound is very clean and bright, and grades more as a strong EX.
Labels are clean and undefaced both sides. No tears, stickers or pen marks, and still with a good unrubbed gloss.
Housed in thick card front laminated sleeve with visible flipbacks to rear. Small "mono" logo to top right of rear, "Printed and Made by Garrod & Lofthouse" to bottom right of rear. Sleeve is clean and without sticker marks, pen marks or tears. A few laminate crease/pinch hairlines and half-moons near entry side, but on the whole the front panel is still impressively clean and bright. No rubbing, dinking or scrapes. Predominantly white rear is still very acceptably clean and bright, and has not suffered excessive darkening and tanning from handling and storage. No sticker, pen etc. marks. Edges and entry side have all fared very well, and are without damage. Entry side, still acceptably crisp and not worn or feathered. Spine still in excellent shape. Just a very little whitening wear to tips, but this is pretty minor
Original poly-lined "Emitex" inner sleeve in overall good order. The expected minor handling creasing, but no tears or marks. No seam splits.
Note that this issue does NOT have the Norwegian Wood label mis-print.
In summary not a mint issue, but in far better condition than the majority of extant issues.

A Note On Grading:Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.
Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl.
