A COMPLETE pressing in immaculate condition, that plays brilliantly from start to finish.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant! Great sound quality throughout.

Sgt Peppers is a complex and varied collection of music, and is also a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, and hard to find in clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'Within You Without You.' This pressing sounds great, with crystal clear sound throughout. There is certainly no dominant or even particularly noticeable interference, and NO hissing, crackle, loud pops or clicks. It really sounds great and plays with TOP sound separation and clarity!

Channels are clean and unstressed. The record plays with staggering power, with near silence between the tracks. Rich and detailed sound with massive dynamics and unique mix and production.  I will give a detailed account below:

SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND bursts in with great clear sound, no pops or clicks and virtually no static to be heard - incredible crystal clear audio. Leading into  A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS, both tracks playing with super clear audio. A couple of very very light pops in the middle of track two only, but they really are barely noticeable.

LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS, a track that so often has lots of interference and surface  sound, plays great. Really nice clear audio, a superb example, virtually no detectable background static at all, and thats incredible rare. This really is a faultless performance.  GETTING BETTER also plays with great clear sound, again with no detectable static, you can hear sounds on this pressing that are virtually always lost. It leads into FIXING A HOLE, again an amazing performance.  No pops or clicks at all, not even a single tic. The ultra delicate SHE'S LEAVING HOME plays beautifully, with no pops or clicks, there is some light static a a tiny bit of sound blurring for about two bars,  literally a few seconds, and its very hard to spot - a great example of the poignant song. BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR KITE plays through with great clear sound.

Side 2. begins with the eastern influence of WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU, and all the complex layering is clearly defined.  There is some very light static at the very start, but it is in no way prominent, simply the kind of static you would find even on a new vinyl. No pops clicks or static during the track, the audio is just superb. WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR, another relatively quiet track plays superbly. I noticed some very light static in the middle of the track, but it was very light. LOVELY RITA, plays with  no pops or clicks, and barely any detectable static. The sound is just perfect. GOOD MORNING GOOD MORNING bursts in, and although its a slightly raucous track, it is still heavily layered, and all the layering is crystal clear.  SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (REPRISE) sounds perfect and leads into the album finale and masterpiece, A DAY IN THE LIFE.

This is such  varied and delicate track, with such a range of sound effects and quiet areas, its usually heavily overshadowed with static and even distortion. Not hear, it plays absolutely beautifully, with super clear sound, and no loud pops or clicks, barely any detectable surface sound, just great, crystal clear audio. Amazing clear sound! Even in the long outro there is minimal surface sound, and it leads to the near fabled rare ending loop; a recording of the Beatles talking, which was then cut up, spliced back together and random and played back repeatedly. Known as 'the rare Sgt. Pepper Inner Groove'.

Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no sound blemishes. Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, NO sticks or jumps what so ever, and virtual silence between the tracks.

This vinyl is an absolute gem! ' A Day in the Life ' sings out with silence in the run ins and quiet areas. Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound. It would be had to ever better this audio performance.

The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals which come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.

An great all round example of this classic vinyl. This is a great Audio pleasure and I would have to give the Audio a EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT grading.

Brilliant first Mono mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact. A TOP all round example of this great vinyl.

THE LABELS

These 1st Press Parlophone labels are in spectacular NEAR MINT Condition, with no sticker marks or writing, and no spindle wear. There are NO spindle traces, well perhaps one tiny ultra faint line on side 2. only, buts thats barely visible. A stunning set that would be very hard to better.

THE RECORD

A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing, this record looks and sounds unplayed. The record has great shine and has no hairlines or scratches, just a light handling paper removal mark. In daylight looks completely unmarked, and only under a spot light can you see a few ultra light handling marks.  This is a truly great Archival example, and I would say easily grades from NEAR MINT.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the The Beatles, released in June 1967. Recorded over a 129-day period beginning in December 1966, Sgt. Pepper sees the band exploring further the experimentation of their previous album, Revolver (1966). Making use of orchestras, hired musicians and innovative production techniques, the album incorporates elements of genres such as music hall, jazz, rock and roll, western classical and traditional Indian music; its lyrics deal particularly with themes of childhood and everyday life.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a commercial success, spending a total of 27 weeks at the top of the UK Album Chart and 15 weeks at number one on the American Billboard 200. A defining album in the emerging psychedelic rock style, Sgt. Pepper was critically acclaimed upon release and won four Grammy awards in 1968. Often recognised by prominent critics and publications as one of the most influential albums in the history of popular music.

The cohesive structure and careful sequencing and transitioning of songs on the album, as well as the use of the Sgt. Pepper framing motif, have led the album to be widely acknowledged as an early and ground-breaking example of the concept album.

The Beatles were present during the mixing of the album in mono and the LP was originally released in mono, alongside a stereo mix prepared by Abbey Road engineers led by Geoff Emerick.

The two mixes have many differences. For example, the stereo mix of "She's Leaving Home," was mixed at a slower speed than the original recording and therefore plays at a slower tempo and lower pitch than the original recording. Conversely, the mono version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," is slightly slower than the stereo version and features much heavier flanging and reverb effects. McCartney's yelling voice in the coda section of "Sgt. Pepper (Reprise)" before the segue into "A Day in the Life," can plainly be heard in the mono version, but is nearly inaudible in the stereo version. The mono version of the song also features drums that open with much more presence and force, turned up in the mix. Also in the stereo mix, the famous segue at the end of "Good Morning Good Morning," (the chicken-clucking sound which becomes a guitar noise) is timed differently and a crowd noise tape comes in later during the intro to "Sgt. Pepper (Reprise)".

Other variations between the two mixes include louder laughter at the end of the mono mix of "Within You Without You," a gush of laughter during the intro of the reprise version of the title track and a colder, echo-less ending on the mono version of "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!"

This FIRST EVER MONO gives a great early press listening experience.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:

Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE COVER

The Grammy Award-winning album packaging was art-directed by Robert Fraser, designed by Peter Blake and his wife Jann Haworth, and photographed by Michael Cooper. It featured a colourful collage of life-sized cardboard models of famous people on the front of the album cover and lyrics printed on the back cover, the first time this had been done on an English pop LP. The Beatles themselves, in the guise of the Sgt. Pepper band, were dressed in custom-made military-style outfits made of satin dyed in day-glo colours. The suits were designed by Manuel Cuevas.

A genuine rarity, this cover is also in stunning archival condition, super bright and clean with laminate that is largely unmarked. There is barely any light scuffing to the corners of the spine, and none to the other outer edges. This is a super bright example, with near perfect flip backs.

There is barely any light creasing, and any that is there is so relatively very slight that its barely detectable. There is certainly no obvious ring wear on the front or rear. The opening edges are very square and un frayed.  The back cover is nice and clean, with NO light ring wear, which is very unusual for these covers.

The inside Gatefold is clean and virtually unmarked.  The outer spine text is totally intact,  with NO discolouration or laminate separation.

A great example. All round, this is a really brilliant cover. Grades at  EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT.

THE INNER

These fools inner are rare. Made of VERY thin paper they nearly always tear at the seems, and were usually discarded. This one is a clean and bright example. It has No seam splits,  NO splits, very little fraying at the top. There is a light impression of the record and a slight water mark as seen in the images, and some creases . A nice example!!! Grades at VERY GOOD PLUS condition.

The record will of course come in a plain white replacement inner sleeve

Art director Robert Fraser was a prominent London art dealer who ran his own gallery and sponsored exhibitions at the Indica Gallery, through which he had become a close friend of McCartney. it was at his influence that the group abandoned their original cover design, a psychedelic painting by The Fool, a Dutch design collective and band who were influential in the psychedelic style of art in British popular music in the late 1960s. The Fool's design for the inner sleeve was, however, used for the first few pressings, and are now extremely rare in any kind of condition.

THE INSERT

Originally, the group had wanted the album to include a package with badges, pencils and other small Sgt. Pepper goodies but this proved far too costly to realise. Instead, the album came with a page of cardboard cut-outs carrying the description: SGT. PEPPER CUT-OUTS . Moustache . Picture Card . Stripes . Badges . Stand Up .  The special inner sleeve, included in the early pressings of the LP, featured a psychedelic pattern designed by The Fool. The final bill for the cover was £2,868 5s 3d (equivalent to £37,531 today), a staggering sum for the time. It has been estimated that this was 100 times the average cost for an album cover in those days.

A great example in NEAR MINT Condition. No writing, creasing or stains.

RARITY

A complete 1st Label pressing of Sgt Peppers in decent condition is scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound.

The cover is hard to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is a superb example. Finding a great cover like this, with a solid pressed piece of vinyl, the original fools inner and cut out insert, fantastic!.

Finding one that has such truly stunning Audio performance, spot less record labels and the extremely rare NO Patents cover makes this an extreme rarity and an absolute gem!

GREAT COVERS WITH NO SEAM SPLITS, NO TEARS, NO WRITING, NO STICKERS.

GREAT VINYLS WITH NO LOUD CLICKS OR POPS, NO JUMPS OR REPEATS - GUARANTEED!

SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING; PLEASE NOTE:

This record has been play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. I aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound quality, pointing out any defects so that you know what you are buying. I will not go into screeds of information about the nature of the songs, as I imagine that you already know them well. I aim to describe all items as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.

.

VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:

The highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and is what I always aim for. I only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance, super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest copies you will find occasional static sound or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.

VINYL
