·       THE BEATLES - SGT.PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS’ CLUB BAND – ORIGINAL (?) 1967 CAPITOL RECORDS STEREO LP SMAS-2653

·       ORIGINAL (?) U.S. PRESSING

*** STILL SEALED LP, BELIEVED TO BE ORIGINAL, STEREO PRESSING ***

·    RARE ORIGINAL FIRST COVER WITHOUT “NEMS ENTERPRISES” PRINTED ABOVE “MANUFACTURED BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC.” IN THE LOWER RIGHT-HAND CORNER OF THE BACK COVER (PLEASE SEE THE MAGNIFIED DETAIL, SHOWN BELOW)

·       BELIEVED TO BE PRESSED ON THE ORIGINAL BLACK CAPITOL LABEL WITH COLORBAND (“RAINBOW”) ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE LABEL (SORRY, WE ARE NOT ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN).

·       BASED ON THE APPEARANCE OF THE COVER; COLOR, SHADE AND HUE AND OF THE PRINT, CONSTRUCTION OF THE COVER, EXTREME THICKNESS OF THE VINYL AND PRESSING VARIATION OF THE COVER (NO “NEMS ENTERPRISES” ON BACK COVER), AS WELL AS THE PRESENCE OF THE ORIGINAL INSERT, WE BELIEVE THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PRESSING – WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A REISSUE

·       WHATEVER PRESSING YOU END UP FINDING INSIDE, WE ABSOLUTELY, CATEGORICALLY GUARANTEE THAT THIS IS A 1960’S PRESSING. THIS IS NOT A 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s OR 2000’s REISSUE.

·       THIS IS NOT AN IMPORT, OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.

·       WE SUSPECT – BUT WE ARE NOT SURE – THAT THE RECORD COMES IN ITS ORIGINAL RED-FADES-TO-WHITE CUSTOM, “PSYCHEDELIC” INNER SLEEVE UNIQUE TO THIS TITLE. IF THIS ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE IS PRESENT, AS WE SUSPECT IT IS, THEN THE LIGHTER EDGE OF THE INNER SLEEVE IS FACING THE OPENING SIDE, WHILE THE RED SIDE IS “BURRIED” (ALONG WITH PAUL?) DEEP INSIDE THE COVER AND IS NOT VISIBLE. PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL ENCLOSE A SPARE (LOOSE) PSYCHEDELIC SLEEVE FROM OUR PERSONAL COLLECTION; THE WINNING BIDDER MAY END UP HAVING TWO SGT. PEPPER INNER SLEEVES, BUT WILL IN ANY EVENT HAVE AT LEAST ONE COMPLETE AND HISTORICALLY ACCURATE SET.

·       THIS SEALED ALBUM INCLUDES ORIGINAL SGT. PEPPER INSERT, SUCH AS THE ONE SHOWN BELOW, FROM OUR PREVIOUS AUCTION (WE CAN SEE IT THROUGH A TINY OPENING AT THE MOUTH (OPENING SLOT) OF THE COVER.

·       THICK CARDBOARD GATEFOLD COVER, AMERICAN STYLE.

·       THICK, HEAVY VINYL PRESSING

(PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)

(Note: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT a "recycled" image from our previous auction. What you see is what you'll get. GUARANTEED!)

Here it is, in all its glory, the Maharajah – The Shogun – The Shah of all Rock albums, in all its ORIGINAL GLORY AND IN CONDITION YOU MAY NEVER – EVER – FIND AGAIN: STILL SEALED! The condition and the quality of the album leaves ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to be desired (heck, if you ever find a copy more gorgeous, WE’LL BUY IT FROM YOU!).

As for the music itself…well, you know that part, right? This vinyl version is still much preferable to the lowly compact disc, last updated and upgraded oh, in the stone age of digital movement, almost 20 years ago (um…earth to Capitol? We have a problem!). This is the album that turned Rock’n’Roll upside down and split its history in two: Rock before Sgt. Pepper - and Rock after Sgt. Pepper. Grab a piece of history before Christie’s and Sotheby’s do.

For its extraordinary contribution to the modern music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, writers and general public, or for some other innate quality, this album was voted # 1 among the top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye , Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice (of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita" fame), Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton (who wrote liner notes for Bob Dylan's first album), Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). For more details, see: "Critics Choice: Top-200 albums" compiled by Paul Gambaccini, Omnibus Press, Library of Congress Catalog No.7855565 (or ► click here for the complete album listing)

·                               CONDITION:

·                               RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID)

(b)            The album INCLUDES the original poster (Sgt. Pepper cutout insert) still intact – we can see it through one small section on the opening where the shrink wrap has been slit open (about 3 inches in length).

(c)             The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, EXTREMELY THICK AND INFLEXIBLE VINYL, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

COVER IS STONE MINT, STILL SEALED AND NOTHING SHORT OF ABSOLUTE PERFECTION, WITHOUT EVEN A HINT OF A FLAW OR DEFECT; A KIND OF BEAUTY YOU ONLY GET TO SEE ONCE IN A LIFETIME (NOTE: SHRINK WRAP HAS BEEN SLIT OPEN ALONG ONE SMALL SECTION AT THE OPENING, BUT THE COVER IS STILL VISIBLY SEALED – ABOUT 75% OF THE LENGTH OF SHRINK WRAP IS INTACT AND VERY TIGHTLY SEALED)

NO IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No split seams

-         No ring wear

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-         No yellowing from aging

-         No writing

-         No stamps

-         No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-         No stickers or labels

-         No water damage

-         No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.
