PICTURE SLEEVE

After almost 60 years, this very first Beatles picture sleeve has survived better than most. With only a small written name and a tiny scrape above it (both pretty inconspicuous), it’ll make a splendid display with the great 45s that come with it in this unique auction!

SHE LOVES YOU / I’LL GET YOU. SWAN S-4152 BLACK WITH SILVER PRINT.

This almost-flawless 45 has all the identifications you’re looking for: Don’t Drop Out, thin print with no quotes on the title, and—most importantly—the “Mastering Reco-Art Phila.” and S-4152-S/I” stamping in the trail-off area. The audio is amazingly close to near mint, and the label has only a tiny number label keeping it from NM grading. It’s an awesome addition!

The red-on-white “She Loves You” was a first pressing, released in late 1963. It is a rare find today. This one has a hand-etched “R” indicating the RCA plant in Rockaway, New Jersey. The audio is superb, with just a hint of ringwear on the label.

SIE LIEBT DICH (SHE LOVES YOU) / I’LL GET YOU. SWAN S-4182 WHITE WITH RED PRINT.

Swan released the German version of “She Loves You” in May 1964. The sound is great, there’s only a bit of ringwear, and the trail-off area has the VIRTUE STUDIO hand-etched marking. This RARE DISC was pressed at the Philadelphia plant, indicated by the German and English titles on one line and in quotation marks. The cutout holes typically indicate a promotional copy sent to radio DJs.

One of the now ULTRA-RARE 72000 Series from 1963-64, this was the first Beatles disc to hit the number one spot in Canada, more than a month before they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. This copy has exceptionally clean audio, with age-appropriate label wear (see photos).
