This is the rare 1967 MONO UK 1st Press of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band' by The Beatles. This 1st press is on the yellow & black Parlophone label with 'Sold In The U.K.' & 'The Gramophone Co.' texts. It has the earliest -1//-1 matrix and 1st Press UK GATEFOLD laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' sleeve. This is one of The Beatles' rarest LPs!!! Any fan of The Beatles or 60s music in general will want this in their collection.
The record is in Very Good condition. It has obviously been played, but displays NO major deterioration!! It has a bright shine with only a few MEGA LIGHT hairlines, a few LIGHT scufflines, and a few light paper scuffs (only visible under bright sun or lamp light) on each side. On playing the sound is extremely good, sharp and clear, but there is some light crackle throughout. This crackle is mostly contained between the tracks and in the run-ins!! There are NO jumps, NO clicks, NO loud pops, NO skips, NO sticks, NO groovewear, NO warps and NO distortion!!! The 1st press Parlophone label has retained the distinct contrast between the black and white printing and the yellow logo is bright and sharp!!! There is ALMOST NO spindle wear (only a few VERY slight touches)!!! This LP still has the original 'cut-out' insert completely intact and red/white inner sleeve..
The laminated UK 1st press 'Garrod & Lofthouse' sleeve is in Excellent condition. The image is still sharp. The printing is bold, but there are some light creases to the laminate. The laminated internal cover is also in Excellent condition. The whole cover still feels very solid and the spine is firm with clear text. The spine has slight discoloration, but there is no folding. There is NO writing, No edgewear, NO heavy spinal wear, NO tears, NO splits, NO serious damage, and NO feathering to the opening edge! This is clearly one of the best covers you will see!!
