Description
For auction I have an original 1967 mono press of The Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Catalogue number is PMC 7027. The whole package is complete with the coloured inner though it has been taped down one side (see pic) and is fairly creased and a bit grubby to be honest,but at least it is still there but graded as being in "fair" condition. The outer sleeve is in a decent VG condition with typical age wear and laminate creasing but remains totally free from any writing. More than acceptable. Record remains in decent strong playable condition and grades as being in an excellent - condition. It still retains a nice deep sheen. A few marks here and there are noticeable but certainly no sound affecting deep gouges. Plays through fine with just some background crackle in the quieter parts and run ins. Basically it still sounds like vinyl!!!!! The original Parlaphone black and yellow labels are absolutely perfect! Over all I would say this is a very decent playable copy.
RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM
MINT :The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed be Mint.
EXCELLENT :The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD :The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
I may use a + or a - to emphasise a grading which may be inbetween a grade. I will never use a mint grading for a 2nd hand/used record for instance. Mint- will be the very highest grade.
