Description

The BEATLES - SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND

Lovely 1967 UK 1st press rare "FOURTH PROOF" copy with all original components and impressive MONO audio quality throughout

Year/Label : 1967 UK PARLOPHONE Label number : PMC 7027 Matrix numbers :  XEX 637 - 1, XEX 638 - 1 Stampers :  3 RAR  /   2 RP0
The condition of the vinyl is a solid very good plus (VG+), bordering on excellent - the vinyl has retained a lovely jet black lustre and remains flat, weighty, and sparingly. With very close inspection under a bright light a few paper scuff lines and wispy hairlines come into view - all non-feelable, surface only and appearing to be purely superficial. The very faint scuff lines are slightly more in evidence on side 2 and a more accurate grading would be "excellent" for side 1 and "very good plus" for side 2.  Excellent (EX) condition labels with the only blemishes being some very light spindle trails on each label. There are no tax codes on either label, showing just how early this UK 1st pressing is. Very good plus (VG+) condition - again, bordering on excellent - original and very 1st press FOURTH PROOF" laminated gatefold sleeve with firm and largely unscuffed edges, including a firm spine where all spine text remains nicely intact. Each corner remains an almost perfectly defined right angle with minimal rubbing. There is no cardboard creasing, no ring wear, no edge fraying on the opening sides and no laminate lifting. The inside of the gatefold is hard to fault with the all-important "Fourth Proof" text and "AR D 1321" lettering perfectly intact. The only blemishes are a slight flattening of the spine, a small area of mild rubbing at the top of the spine, two 1.5cm scuffs on each of the bottom edges (there is no scuffing on the top edges at all, just a single solitary tiny "nick" in the middle of the reverse side edge), and some 1 -1.5cm non-obvious surface laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on each of the front and reverse sides. Very nice, fully functional, and remaining eminently presentable.  The original "cut-outs" insert is unused and remains in near mint condition, and the original "Fools" red flamed inner sleeve is also present with no splits, tears, or edge fraying though there is some mild creasing next to the bottom edge.  Excellent (EX) MONO audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum (perhaps very slightly more in evidence during "WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR") and impinges upon the overall excellent sound quality barely at all. You may just be able to detect the very, very occasional light background click, including x3 extremely light dull clicks towards the end of "WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU" (you will need to listen very carefully in order to detect them) due to a tiny manufacturing dimple (see photo), but these are each trivial and again do not impact upon the terrific listening experience. Every track remains a great listen - timeless!    A few very minor blemishes but overall a great copy of this 1967 UK very 1st press and extremely rare "FOURTH PROOF" Beatles classic.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 54 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's shop window! My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I will sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item. Richard
