THE THE BEATLES with TONY SHERIDAN: "The Beatles with Tony Sheridan" (ca. ´63/´64 / very rare orig. Austrian* EP / German Record Club EP for "Bertelsmann" Club / ATLAS RECORD 80 031 HI-FI / *the term "Austrian" has been marked above, because it´s only half-correct: actually the EP was manufactured in Germany, but it was only made for the Austrian market and not for sale in Germany / I haven´t found any reliable informations about this record, but I presume, that this is a Record Club EP (only available to members of a certain Record Club in Austria) / the release date is also a bit of a mystery: in the text on the back sleeve Tony Sheridan is introduced as being 22 years old - if this was true, the EP was either released in 1962 or in 1963, as Sheridan was born in May, 1940 - but we all know, that biographical details as delivered by record companies always have to be taken with great caution: it´s more than unlikely, that the EP really is from 1962/63, I presume, that Sheridan was made a bit younger by the record company (just keep in mind, that back then a 23-year old could be regarded as an "old man" by some people!); in my opinion late 1963/early 1964 is a much more likely release date than 1962/63. Fact is, that this must be a very early EP: telling from the text The Beatles were well-known, but they didn´t have the "mega-star" status of the height of their career (closer inspection of the text on the back sleeve suggests, that Bert Kaempfert was a much bigger star than The Beatles, and references to other artists like Conway Twitty surely wouldn´t have been printed on a Beatles´ EP in 1965, the text sounds, as if The Beatles were relative "newcomers", not established artists) / another thing is also a bit mysterious: is this a legitimate release or not? the EP surely can´t be regarded as a bootleg, but I´m not 100% sure, if it is an officially approved legitmate issue (would Polydor really have given away the rights to a more or less unknown small Record Club in Austria? ) ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 1st issue with orange label (the record was "reissued" with red labels in the same year 1964) / incl.: My Bonnie / The Saints / Cry For A Shadow / Why / the sleeve has a "glance" surface, but this is not a real lamination - it´s the "typical German" kind of EP sleeve, which isn´t as "heavy" or as "thick" as EP sleeves from most other countries)

DESCRIPTION:

tiny writing on the left side st the bottom of the front sleeve (dark-blue "T" at the bottom of the "harp" logo) / / very light ringwear on the backside, the front sleeve has almost no ringwear / otherwise the sleeve is in superb condition with exception of one mistake: on the frontside there are slight impressions of a writing, but this writing is without colour (most likely someone has written something on a piece of paper while using the EP sleeve as a blotting pad - from most angles this "writing" is absolutely invisible, but if the sleeve is held into the light in a certain angle it´s becoming evident, that there are slight impressions respectively that something has been "engraved") / if you "discount" this fault, the rest of sleeve is in a condition, that can hardly be surpassed (keep in mind, that because of the lack of a lamintation this German sleeve is much more "sensible" than the usual EP sleeve!) / the vinyl has just a few light hairline scratches, and it´s in "top class" condition compared to 99% of all copies of this EP! (it won´t be easy to locate another copy of this EP in the same amazing condition!)
