I'm starting this at an incredibly low crazy price with no reserve because I believe this is such a nice beautiful looking album it will ultimately do very well and help raise a decent sum of money for the needy aft our local food pantry where I am VP.This money goes to a really great cause so don't hold back.
I'm not a Professional record dealer. I could not be called as an expert witness in a trial. However I have spoken with a few folks now and this is a very rare record. The color of the album was not a gimmick in Taiwan like colored vinyl was here in the states. It is a beautiful brilliant orange with a unique front cover (see photo) and back cover which features the words to all the songs. When Rubber Soul came out this is how they did it in Taiwan. I bought this LP for it's unique, different, unusual look and the beauty of the record. I did not purchase it for listening. I already had the American & British versions for that and later on the Japanese high quality pressing. I owned no other Taiwan records nor had I seen one but when I saw this one I fell in love with it. It is a really gorgeous looking record. (Don't take my word for it, check the photos).
There are 2 noticeable scratches. One on side one, the other on side 2. I have never played this album but a friend who is very knowledgeable and IS a Beatles expert listened to it. Here is what he told me. Side one's scratch goes through first 2 tracks, Side two's through half of tracks 2&3 - HOWEVER The songs play through (no skips or sticking) naturally those 2 scratches play through with loud pops - all the other songs play through fine with no problems. Again I'm not sure this is something you are buying for listening but if you want to play this through you certainly can . Record wise it should be listed as VG.
Here is what Goldmine Record Album Price Guide (the bible of record collecting) says: "When a VG record is played it has surface noise and SCRATCHES MAY BE AUDIBLE." Outside of where the 2 scratches are the album would be considered much better than a VG rating.
The cover too is very cool. Check out the photo. A rare, different, photo not often seen & an unusual captivating cover made extremely interesting by what the record company did with the background of the picture. Take a good look at the photos. This is why I think it should be bought for framing and hanging on the wall. It's a real attention grabber for any Beatles fan. I assure you they will want to know where the heck it came from, how you got it and where they can get one too.
The reason it is listed as VG is due to some small rips. As my friend listed them for me the cover has a 1 1/2" rip on the bottom, a 1" rip at the bottom of the front opening right corner and a seam split along part of the bottom.
Again I refer to Goldmine which states that a VG cover: "seam splitting will be more obvious, it may appear on all 3 sides. (this has it only on one) BUT if you frame this for your wall you will not see it at all. You see the Taiwan covers are not cardboard like ours. They are a thin paper cover covered in a plastic. This is why the seam at the bottom does not stand out like it would on a thick cardboard.
