BEATLES  UK  – ABBEY ROAD LP – MIS PRESS SLEEVE.

ORIGINAL STEREO - 1969 PCS 7088 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A UK first press album in 100% original condition.

The sleeve features:

a.  a misaligned APPLE logo mispress on the rear of the sleeve,

b.     the second mispress is the photo image on the front of the sleeve is out of focus !.  See  the attached photo of the White VW Beetle, the number plate is unreadable !,   on ‘normal’  sleeves this number is quite clear  !.

There is NO mention of  the song  ‘Her Majesty’ on the record label, but the song DOES play on the record !.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  is in excellent+ condition, the full laminate sleeve has an excellent shine.  The spine is  in excellent  condition and all the text  is clear.   The Two opening edges of the sleeve are in excellent+ condition.  This being a very first issue, printed in August 1969, the rear of the sleeve features a misprinted misaligned APPLE logo.   Once spotted by EMI the sleeve was soon corrected, but a handful of these misprinted sleeves did escape into the public market. On the normal sleeve the Apple logo is aligned with the text left side margin.  Also as described above the front sleeve photo is out of  focus !. 

INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original white sleeve with a    ‘Patent no.  1 125 555’  printed on it.   There is NO wear to the sleeve, all  the edges are perfect,   a remarkable well preserved sleeve,   it is very clean and white with  NO  tears, Biro writing on etc.

VINYL:  side One is in excellent condition, side Two is in very good+ condition,  there are  a couple  of light scuffs on  side Two.    Being a first pressing it is made of  ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl.  The Matrix nos. are YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1,    the Mother/Stampers are :  ‘9    MOD’  and   ‘7  ARL’.  The vinyl is very clean, dark and very glossy.

AUDIO:   is  very good+ to excellent,  it plays well and  lays  flat on the turntable, with NO jumps or skips. 

THE LABELS:  are in near excellent condition and being a first pressing show a DARK Green Apple colour,  there is NO mention of the song ‘Her Majesty’ on the  label on side Two,  but this song DOES appear on the record,  how odd !.

Unfortunately as you  will see from my feedback,   I have received one neutral and one negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received these two pieces of feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
