BEATLES UK, Revolver, rare ridge labels, original UK 1966 mono.

PMC 7009, original UK 1966 mono yellow and black Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. in 1966, to try and meet public demand for the new Beatles album, ‘Revolver’, EMI re-employed an old pressing machine resulting in these very hard to find ‘double ridge’ label records. Only a very small number of these ‘double ridge’ label records were ever made. The ridges themselves are curious, as the ridge on side one is more ‘shallow’, but the ridge on side two is more ‘pronounced’,

2. the records matrix and mother / stampers are all regular EMI,

3. these rare ‘double ridge’ label copies usually feature the 2/2 matrix, but this copy is more unusual as it features the 2/3 matrix,

4. side two on the record has the earliest ‘mother’, of: ‘1’.

5. comes with its original, period 1966 EMI ‘Patents applied for’ inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. This laminate has an excellent glossy finish. The spine is in excellent condition and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The two opening edges have remained sharp and for its age the four corners of the sleeve have remained quite ‘sharp’. The rear of the sleeve features the original 1960s period style, ‘tri flip back’ design, ie fold over edges. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. When the front laminate of the sleeve is held to the light an ‘impression’ of the word ‘Revolver’ can be seen in the centre.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original, period 1966 EMI ‘Patents applied for’ inner sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean for their age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is some slight age related discolouring to the edges of the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: each side is in excellent+ condition. The record is made from the period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy and is the ‘cleanest’ double ridge copy I have seem, it has been very well looked after and ‘looks’ as if it has not been played very much.

The matrix are: XEX 605 - 2 and XEX 606 – 3, more unusual.

The mother / stampers are: ‘4 LT’ and ‘1 LO’.

THE AUDIO: is excellent+, an excellent playing copy. The record plays with a full loud, clear and powerful mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in near excellent condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
