BEATLES UK – Rubber Soul, Mono, rare ridged labels !.

PMC 1267 - original 1965 Mono Yellow & Black Parlophone Labels.

An original UK album in 100% original condition, featuring:

1. very unusual ridged labels each side. The matrix numbers and the mother / stampers  all suggest the record is an EMI pressing, but the ridged labels are a mystery !. It is thought that these very hard to find ‘ridge labels’ were pressed by a ‘rogue’ pressing machine that EMI used for a short time !. The ridges themselves are curious as on side one, the ridge is more ‘shallow’ than the ridge on side two !, on side two the ridge is more pronounced !.

2. to add to the mystery the label on side two have the letters ‘MT’ embossed onto it.  This record should officially carry the ‘KT’ letters as the ‘MT’ letters were phased out two years earlier  !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated.  The spine is in excellent condition and all the text is clear to read.  The rear of the sleeve features the tri flipback design. The rear of the sleeve has remained an excellent fresh white in colour. There are NO tears, stains, splits, stickers or sticker residue. There are a couple of very small black pen ‘ticks’ near to the  songs listing on the rear of the sleeve.    

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original ‘Use Emitex’ sleeve.  There are NO tears, stains, splits, stickers or sticker residue. There is a small black pen line on one side of the sleeve.

THE VINYL: side one is in very good condition, side two is in good++ condition.  It is made from the period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy in appearance.

The matrix are :     XEX 579 - 4    and    XEX 580 – 4,

The Mother / Stampers are:    ‘ 7     G O H ’   and    ‘ 4  3   G M L ’.

THE AUDIO: side one is very good and plays with some crackle, side two is good++, side two plays with some crackle and some ‘ticks’ here and there. The vinyl lays flat on the turntable and plays well with NO jumps or sticking from the needle. 

THE LABELS: side one is in very good+ condition, it has two names written in pencil, this side has a mysterious ‘shallow ridge’  to it.  Side two is in very good++ condition, this side also has a ridge but it appears to be deeper than the ridge on side one !.  There are the letters  ‘ M T ’  embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any stickers or sticker residue. 

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE.
