Description
Mania Days - by Curt Gunther
Published by Genesis Publications in 2000, superb large size weighty hardback book in a slipcase showcasing the photographs of Curt Gunther.
On August 18th 1964, one week after A Hard Day's Night hit theatres, The Beatles left London for their first full tour of the USA and Canada. Beatlemania had touched down in America, and the Fab Four were in for a frantic ride. Although Brian Epstein wanted no photographers to accompany The Beatles on the tour, Derek Taylor - Press Officer and friend to The Beatles - persuaded Epstein to allow Curt Gunther to join the touring party.
Exquisitely produced as a limited edition book, Gunther's photographs and text from Derek Taylor come together, giving an intimate insiders view into the beginnings of Beatlemania. Over 350 of Curt's unique and beautiful photographs are now showcased in this limited edition. His lens captures the mania of the tour and its rare moments of relaxation - from farms to screaming fans and hotel suites to huge stadiums, with an omnipresent police force.
This a rare first edition copy signed by signed by Stephen Gunther, curator of the Kurt Gunther archive. This edition was limited to 2500 copies but this is an unnumbered copy which was part of a small batch sent to selected individuals (see photos).
The book, cover and card slip case are in excellent condition.
