Description
In this auction:
· ORIGINAL U.S. EARLY 1964 RARE PROMOTIONAL ONLY ALBUM TITLED “GREAT NEW RELEASES FROM THE SOUND CAPITOL OF THE WORLD”!
· This LP was issued to promote new Capitol Records releases in February, 1964.
· THIS LP WAS NOT SOLD IN STORES!
· This LP is entitled "GREAT NEW RELEASES FROM THE SOUND CAPITOL OF THE WORLD".
· This is Capitol PRO 2537/PRO 2538 ISSUED IN FEBRUARY OF 1964.
· Capitol Records was rather reluctant to pick up and add the Beatles to their label of recording artists from their EMI affiliate in the U.K. Thus, THIS IS THE VERY FIRST PROMOTIONAL ALBUM ISSUED WITH BEATLES MATERIAL IN THE U.S.!
· As you may know, PROMO RECORDS were only released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for airplay or to music stores/departments and not made available to the general public. For that reason they are in high demand by collectors due to the very small quantities that were produced and the inability of the public to purchase them.
· IT IS ONE OF THE TRUE EARLY BEATLES RARE RECORDS AND WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES!
· THE CUTS ON THIS LP AND THE REAR COVER DISPLAYS CAPITOL RECORDING ARTISTS & RECORDS THAT CAPITOL WAS PROMOTING AT THE TIME!
· THIS LP INCLUDES THE BEATLES SONGS, “IT WON'T BE LONG” AND “THIS BOY” FROM THE BEATLES FIRST CAPITOL RECORDS LP “MEET THE BEATLES”.
· THE REAR COVER ALSO HAS A PICTURE OF THE "MEET THE BEATLES" ALBUM.
· NOTE THE PROMOTIONAL HYPE LANGUAGE ON THE REAR COVER BESIDE THE IMAGE OF THE “MEET THE BEATLES” COVER WHICH READS:
“Here they are…the group that set England afire with their multi-million seller success! Get ready for the hottest thing you’ve heard yet—the wild rocking sounds of The Beatles serves, on a silver platter, just what teenage America wants.”
· THE COVER IS IN VG CONDITION. There is moderate overall wear. There is flaking on the top seam with about 4 inches of the top seam “bald”. There is also some flaking on the spine leaving 2 inches from the top and 1 inch from the bottom “bald”. The bottom seam is intact. There is moderate to heavy wear on the corners which have wear/”feathering”. The front slick is quite clean. “Balanced for Broadcast” printed at the top left corner has a crease, but it was pasted on that way from the factory. The rear of the cover has moderate aging of the primarily white rear slick with several smudge marks. (Check images.)
· THE VINYL IS IN VG CONDITION. There are numerous primarily light to moderate surface hairlines/scuffs on both sides, but none are “feelable”. The vinyl still has lots of gloss.
· THIS LP ALSO COMES WITH ITS ORIGINAL EARLY CAPITOL ROYAL BLUE INNER SLEEVE ADVERTISING OTHER CAPITOL ALBUMS.
THIS IS DEFINITELY a RARE LP in ANY CONDITION!!! After all it IS the VERY FIRST PROMOTIONAL LP WITH BEATLES TUNES on it released in the U.S.!!!
