This is an ORIGINAL numbered U.S. issue of the White album with one of a handful of known factory stickers affixed to the cover.

In 1968, Apple assumed that the Beatles reputation and buzz about their new record would attract customers. Capitol (who distributed the LP) was not so sure and affixed stickers for a brief period to some original copies of the album. These stickers are extremely scarce. The sticker on this cover (APP 101.S1) is documented in Bruce Spizer's "The Beatles on Apple Records" book.

The LP jacket is in VG+ condition overall. There is NO WRITING anywhere on the cover and the inside is clean. There is some rubbing to the top seams and the tiny bit to the bottom corner but all seams are fully intact. The title spine is also complete. There is a ding to the top left corner and 4 small holes where the original retailer stapled a price tag to the LP! (believe it or not this is common and also documented in Bruce Spizer's book). The first LP and Side 3 of the second LP are in VG+ condition with nice glossy surfaces and clean labels. Side 4 has two noticable scratches--otherwise it would be VG+. "Rocky Raccoon" is misspelled on Side 2 as "Racoon" (this error was corrected on later pressings). The poster and photos are original first run pressings on heavy Kromekote glossy stock--all are in VG++ to Near Mint condition (just a touch of yellowing to the backs).

The LPs sound great and are from early machine stampers as shown from the matrix numbers:

  • Side 1: SWBO-1-101 J64
  • Side 2: SWBO-2-101 J47
  • Side 3: SWBO-3-101 J49
  • Side 4: SWBO-4-101 J46

    The LPs are all "MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS , INC." pressings and do not have the white Capitol perimeter print--the Capitol perimeter print ended sometime after the 2,500,000th pressing! This LP is numbered "A 3033615".
