On offer here is one of The Beatles' rarest UK LP releases (save original black/gold Please Please Me LPs), a MONO pressing YELLOW SUBMARINE from 1969, a time when STEREO had easily become the norm. There are only wispy, fine sleeve removal marks to the vinyl, absolutely nothing serious, giving a quite stunning looking vinyl, playing with great clarity and power. A real treat. No writing anywhere on the labels (which are a superb MINT-) or sleeve rear. The sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition, very clean, light ageing, light laminate wrinkles only and a mild impression left by the heavyweight vinyl. One mild crease to lower right corner and one laminate wrinkle running parallel to the spine, but these barely detract from what is a great looking cover. The sleeve opening shows no feathering and is razor sharp, the edges and spine undamaged. No splits. The flipback is beautifully clean and complete. A very solid sleeve with very clean, unspoilt rear. The original black Apple inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition with no splits/tears - hard to find in this condition.
This is a mega rare sleeve as it has the Garrod & Lofthouse credit to lower right flipback. I have never seen this before on a first pressing Yellow Submarine, the only MONO copies that were pressed. The majority of sleeves you will see have no printing to lower flipback at all!
There are some great tracks on Yellow Submarine, Lennon/McCartney compositions such as "All Together Now", "Hey Bulldog" and "All You Need Is Love", and two great numbers by Harrison, "Only a Northern Song", and, in my opinion, one of his greatest, "It's All Too Much", a powerful psychedelic number with a feedback intro and mesmeric, "trippy" feel to it. Side 2 prolongs this mesmeric feel with George Martin's contribution, an atmospheric, soothing arrangement in true 60s soundtrack mode. This is an oft-criticized Beatles record, but it's remarkable in its contrast to everything else they produced. I cherish my own copy, and really enjoy listening to it in its entirety. I'm sure you will too, and this copy will not disappoint. Please find below a guide to spotting an original copy, criteria that the copy on offer here complies with totally.
