Description

From 1963 to 1965 I worked as a publicist in the London Press Office of EMI Records.

In April 1965 Ron Richards, George Martin' s assistant, gave me this handwritten test pressing of The "No Reply" / "I'm a Loser" side of the 1965 Beatles for Sale EP. It is not one of the far more common promotional copies, but one of the very, very few test pressings, or "White Labels", that were made. As shown in the photos (see also the close up) It has handwritten on it "7TCE860 - IN", "13 2 65", "NO REPLY I'M A LOSER BEATLES".

Truly a collector's item.

The label is not quite as discolored as it appears in the pictures, but after all it is 41 YEARS OLD! There are some surface scratches. However, the true value of this item lies in its exceptional rarity. The buyer will know that this white label came directly from George Martin's office and was played by me in one of the listening rooms on the 3rd floor Press Office of EMI's Manchester Square, London HQ, as I and Syd Gillingham (chief Press Officer) and others planned our promotional strategy.
