BEAU BRUMMELS: STONEGROUND LP ACETATE Work in Progress! Shipping Info | SALES THEME Description STONEGROUND "STONEGROUND" Warner Bros. Records. Plain White Covers: MINT, Vinyl: EXCELLENT PLUS, Labels: NEAR MINT. This is a SCARCE 1971 MONO ACETATE WORK IN PROGRESS REFERENCE RECORD made during the sessions for the First STONEGROUND album. The album was issued by Warner Bros. in 1971 in stereo ONLY and NOT in mono. This reference disc is dated January 29, 1971. It has hand-typed labels that read Stereo but it sounds like MONO to me! It was created by Location Record Service in Burbank, CA. Includes 7 songs! The song "Alligator [Man]" never made it to the final version of the album. It is also very different from the single SAL VALENTINO later issued. The song "Doctor" is actually "Don't Waste My Time (With Your Jive)"! [vinyl has great shine and sparkle well with some very light and minor surface scuffs] Plays FANTASTIC!
I was assisted by Lead Singer SAL VALENTINO in listening to this record and determining exactly what was on it!
STONEGROUND was formed in 1970 by TIM BARNES who grabbed the title off a loaf of bread! The next year the band expanded to 10 members to appear in the travel movie "Medicine Ball Caravan" as part of a hippie caravan. Martin Scorsese was the Assistant Director. It was at this point that former BEAU BRUMMELS front man SAL VALENTINO joined the group. There were also four Stoneground Ladies who sang lead and background vocals.
