Sure, everybody knows that a Kinks or Who album will always be jam-packed with great original songs. But do the Troggs get any respect? Never--they're treated like a one-hit band, like a Nuggets thing. BUT. That's because people haven't sat down and listened to all the songs Reg Presley wrote...well, except for "Love is all around" itself, which is pretty famous. But what comes next on this album? "Night of the long grass," which is amazing. And there's "66-5-4-3-2-1," a killer song. And a worthy echo of "Wild Thing" is on here, namely "I can't control myself," which was flirting with a radio ban. "Yer slacks are low and your hips are showing," once you've heard it you never forget it.
Anyway, I'm trying to say this is a great album, not just a great single and some filler.
And it's a good hot mastering with a lot of presence and the kind of dynamics that streaming is not giving us.
So you may not realize it, but you do need this classic record.
It's hard to find in NM condition, though there are a lot of beat-up copies around, and which you prefer is up to you! As long as you listen to this stuff...
