Beck, Bogart, Appice
'S/T'
Epic, UK, 1973
S EPC 65455
SERRIOUSLY IMPRESSIVE power trio - their one and only studio album - laid down I believe in Ardent Studios Memphis. It's hot, sticky and bursting with heaviosity just as you might expect from these three killer muscians; Carmine Appice and Tim Bogart had previously been in monster boogie band Cactus whilst Beck was, well, Beck!
The music here is totally in your face heavy blues with great instrumental excursions and one amazing cover version; Stevie Wonders 'Superstition' that the band take and make their own. It is the definitive version - as heavy as Led Zeppelin with the rhythm section laying waste to everything in ear shot. And there's more; 'Black Cat Moan', 'Lady' etc
Arguably one of the wolrds greatest hard rock albums, certainly one of Jeff Beck's most astonishing performances outside of his later jazz rock excursions.
Tough to find original copies with the textured sleeve and yello Epic label. This one is a beaut.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: Epic, UK, 1973 - yellow label original
Vinyl: Nice shiny clean condition - possibly only played once. One lone spindle mark on labels and no other signs of use. Grades as shop fresh MINT-!
Cover: Again, virtually no signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated textured cover with a matt photo of the band on the rear in light releif. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is perfect - straight, stiff and totally uncrushed. Looks like it walked out of the factory yesterday. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 42 years after release. Grades as MINT!
