Description
KLEMPERER / PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA & CHORUS / BEETHOVEN - " FIDELIO ", Columbia/EMI Records Ltd. (ASD 2254-2256) Stereo.
Very rare, English 1st pressing Columbia LP box set with the original light blue and silver labels, etc
Includes libretto.
Pressed in England.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeves (the original inner sleeves have also been retained and included in the auction - see photo).
CONDITION:
VINYL = EX- (No groove damage, no distortion, only the lightest spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out one single obvious flaw on the record set - a few minutes into the 1st side there is one visible scratch across a minute or two of the record. Although it doesn't feel that deep, when played it does make a light background click on some rotations... not a huge, wince inducing thunk, just a faint click but it has to be declared so that bids can be adjusted accordingly. Otherwise on the other 5 sides of the vinyl and the rest of side 1, there are some paper scuffs and the occasional very faint hairline mark - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws don't correspond directly to any audible defects.
Also, despite their clean appearance, on playback there is a bit of sporadic faint surface noise and occasional crackle as the records plays through. More noticeable in quiet sections of course and definitely not severe enough to ruin the whole listening experience, but again, fair to point and so bidders can place there max bids bearing this in mind.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
LIBRETTO = EX- (A couple of very light creases and a faint mark too)
BOX = V.G.+ (Not totally ruined by any means. But the corners of the lid have split and there is some other general wear and a bit of a scrape on the back - see photos for further clarification)
