This box set of LPs is hardly ever offered for sale in this condition – if ever.

"Klemperer’s greatness is not just his fidelity to the score. It’s his ability to convince that his tempos ’work’ – which they generally do – and the reason is he sees each movement whole. This structural focus, the organic building of climaxes, the lofty expression all come from Klemperer giving the music time to breath and articulate – always with a sense of purpose and direction."

This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine flawless MINT CONDITION 1970 UK first pressing. The records are in immaculate as-new condition and the box and inner sleeves are in near mint condition. All items are free from any major defects. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1970, not reprints or replacements. The LPs are the original 1970 UK stereo LPs, a few of which were only played occasionally on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for. Most were never played.

"The joy is that Klemperer’s spacious and focussed Beethoven symphonies remain available not only as a superb cycle on its own terms but one that is a valuable alternative to the slick and uneventful way of presenting this music that is becoming more and more the norm."
