BENNY CARTER, Verve 8160,1957 COSMOPOLITE is a famous cover. This is a 12 inch LP,re-issue of two 10 inch records. From Dee's personal collection. DAVID STONE MARTIN Cover. Record is clean and beautiful. Near MINT. Small mark on 1/2 inch of lower left corner is the only thing that keeps this from being MINT. Hundreds of drawings and paintings by David Stone Martin grace the covers of record albums of the 50's and virtually define Jazz Art. Martin stands head and shoulders above other graphic designers. A very sought after artist. Benny Carter Orchestra consists of Benny on Alto Sax, Oscar Peterson - Piano, J.C.Heard-Drums, Barney Kissel-Guitar and Ray Brown-Bass. Benny is also gifted on trumpet, clarinet and tenor sax. No other artist in Jazz has such complete command of his instruments (with the exception of Tatum). Two originals her - "Blue Star" and "Sorry". Among others; Street Scene-Flamingo,(great tune). All these great musicians make great music. How could it be otherwise ?
