Description

BENNY GOODMAN/ROSEMARY CLOONEY 1956 78 Goodbye (E)

ROSEMARY CLOONEY & & BENNY GOODMAN. Columbia 40625 (Cdn) Goodbye (with Rosemary on vocal)/A Fine Romance (BG & The Sextet without Rosie)
From early 1956, here’s a nice collaboration between Rosie and BG with both doing a fine job. The ‘B’ side is Benny & His Sextet. Side ‘A’ is a jazz vocal treat. Great stuff.

This 78 visually grades a gorgeous, shiny E with just a couple of ‘angel-hair’ surface scratches and other very light signs of careful use. There is a water soluble sticker on the B side label, removable with water and patience. Columbia factory sleeve included.

Please check my other auctions for more great 78s. I’m happy to combine multiple auctions to help get the best shipping rates. And, don’t forget, I can ship up to two 78s for the same price as shipping one. As well, in most cases, I can ship up to six 78s for the same price as shipping three. Fill up a box!

Unless otherwise stated, 78s are carefully cleaned by hand before listing. Upon receiving, your only job will be to enjoy the music.
78s come in used but nice vintage green sleeves or, when possible, original paper sleeves.
I do my spot-checking and play testing on a Technics 1200 turntable with a Stanton 500 cartridge using a standard Stanton 2.7 stylus. The amp is a mid-70s Pro-Linear with the mono switch activated. The speakers are small professional recording studio monitors (Yamaha NS 10) that are known for being overly bright – great for spotting that mild surface noise!
I ship 78s as I like to receive them - using the four-sheet 10” cardboard sandwich, foam chips, 12" x 12" x 4 "(or 6") box method.
I use standard 78 grading (E+, E, E-, V+, V, V- etc). I’ll sometimes use double plus or minus signs to really hone in on the shape.

S&H INFO:
I charge actual postage plus an extra dollar and a half (give or take a few cents, depending on the state of the constantly fluctuating US and Canadian dollars) to help pay for packing materials and, now, to help compensate for eBay’s new final-value-fee on shipping charges.
There is no ‘handling charge’ for the time I take to properly pack your precious vintage 78 for safe travel.

NOTE TO ALL BUYERS. eBay’s new final-value-fee on shipping charges plus the ever-strong Canadian dollar has resulted in another small increase in shipping costs.

NOTE TO CANADIAN BUYERS. The postage amount I’ve posted is a guideline only. Once I have your postal code, I’ll invoice you with the proper shipping cost which varies, depending on your location in Canada. Thanks. Note that since I’m mailing from B.C., shipping in Canada now includes 12 % HST.

US Surface S&H for up to two 78s is $14.00 US.
US Air S&H for up to two 78s is $16.99 US.
International surface S&H for up to two 78s ranges from $16.64 US to $18.95 US, depending on your location. Note: International surface shipping can take up to two months to arrive from Canada. Not recommended.
International Air S&H for up to two 78s ranges from $35.37 US to $42.63 US, depending on your location.

INTERNATIONAL AND US BUYERS – PLEASE NOTE:
eBay has requested that sellers include the following information.
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.

PayPal is now the only payment method I can offer that is permissible on eBay.

On 16-Jun-11 at 19:16:15 EDT, seller added the following information:

Note: After a few days of rotating strikes across the country, Canada Post has suddenly locked out all of its workers. This action has resulted in a temporary mail stoppage, in and out of Canada. However, it is my understanding that the federal government will be implementing ‘back to work’ legislation any day now so this dispute may well be resolved soon. So, if you want to bid on this record, please go ahead. I’m happy to hold any of your wins until this matter is behind us. I’m also willing to look in to using an alternative (but probably more expensive) courier service to deliver your record to you, if you so desire. Many thanks, Roy
