TOP RARE ORIGINAL 1900 BERLINER OF THE FIRST RECORDING OF FLORADORA
119 year old Berliner recording, with the composer accompanying.
This is an amazing disc. The original, first recording of the musical Floradora, recorded only months after the UK world premiere and before the US opening. It has the composer accompanying, and is hence a creator recording, an historical document giving us an insight into how the composer intended it to be played.
The disc titles are etched into the wax, as were all these early Berliners, and is hard to see on the scans. The disc is clearly dated 3-10-00 (3rd October 1900). The title is "Tell me , pretty maiden", sung by The Members of the Lyric Theatre, accompanied by the composer. The title is difficult to see in the scans. The disc itself is a typical Berliner. These usually turn up very worn: this is in better condition than most, save for one or two scratches.
