The 4th studio album ''Rise Of The Antichrist'' by the Black/Thrash Metallers BEWITCHED from Umea was released in 2002. It is probably a bit of an exaggeration to say that the 4 Swedes invented the mix of Black & Thrash Metal, but they have at least significantly contributed to cultivating this mixture, for example with the hammer album ''Pentagram Prayer'' from 1997. The 9 tracks of ''Rise Of The Antichrist'', which compared to the predecessor "At The Gates Of Hell" particularly impress with a very clear production and filigree guitar work, are no exception. The Thrash Metal portion still clearly outweighs the Black Metal portion, but you can still hear the influence of the BEWITCHED heros BATHORY, VENOM or CELTIC FROST more clearly than before. The big plus of BEWITCHED compared to other Black/Thrash Metal bands is the catchiness of their songs, which are much more based on traditional metal of the eighties than on black metal of the nineties. This oozing with metal cliché titled tracks, you can't get out of your rotating skull after hearing them for the first time and Vargher's voice can be heard out of thousands anyway. The paradise for all headbangers! Finally re-released on vinyl again in 2018, the black version is limited to 250 copies and comes with a lyric insert.
