VOGUE JAZZ SELECTION LDM 30.037. 12" LP. UNDATED.
NOT MARKED FOR STEREO AND PLAYS IN MONO. I ESTIMATE THE PRESSING TO HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE 1950's, AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR THAT AGE. THE SLEEVE NOTES ARE IN FRENCH BUT THE LABELS ARE MARKED "MADE IN FRANCE"
Big Bill Broonzy (June 26, 1893 – August 14 or 15, 1958) was a prolific American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist. His career began in the 1920s when he played country blues to mostly African-American audiences. Through the 1930s and 1940s he successfully navigated a transition in style to a more urban blues sound popular with working class African-American audiences. In the 1950s a return to his traditional folk-blues roots made him one of the leading figures of the emerging American folk music revival and an international star. His long and varied career marks him as one of the key figures in the development of blues music in the 20th century.
Broonzy copyrighted more than 300 songs during his lifetime, including both adaptations of traditional folk songs and original blues songs. As a blues composer, he was unique in that his compositions reflected the many vantage points of his rural-to-urban experiences. [WIKIPEDIA]
Big Bill Blues: His 23 Greatest Songs 1927–42 (2004). [WIKIPEDIA]Between 1927 and 1942, Broonzy recorded 224 songs, making him the second most prolific blues recording artist during that period. These were released before blues records were tracked by recording industry trade magazines. By the time Billboard instituted the first of its "race music" charts in October 1942, Broonzy's recordings were less popular and none appeared in the charts.

THE ALBUM "BIG BILL'S BLUES" INCLUDES 23 OF HIS MOST POPULAR SONGS [SEE ABOVE], HOWEVER THIS IS NOT THAT ALBUM AS IT ONLY HAS 14 TRACKS, NONE OF WHICH ARE LISTED IN HIS SINGLES DISCOGRAPHY. THE RECORD (IN THIS FORM) IS NOT LISTED IN ANY OTHER DISCOGRAPHY THAT I CAN FIND MAKING IT AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE COPY AND ALTHOUGH IT SHOWS SIGNS OF AGE WILL BE OF INTEREST TO A SERIOUS COLLECTOR. MINT :- only brand new records are mint! So for those that are in 'as new' condition - I grade these as EX+.
EX+ See above. The record shows no signs of having been played but as I play each record (to check for blemishes not visible to the naked eye) it cannot be classed as MINT.
EX - The record shows some signs of having been played,but there is very little lessening in sound quality.The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing
VG - The record has obviously been played many times,but displays no major deteriorationin sound quality,despite noticable surface marks and the occasional scratch.Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,without any major defects,is acceptable.
G - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticably deteriorated,perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.The cover and contents suffer from folding,scuffingof edges,spine splits,discolouration etc.
OTHER. I do not sell records in worse condition than the above, - unless they are particularly rare and have appeal to collectors of a particular artist or genre. In this case I give a full description in DETAILS.
