Description
Well here we go again! a New listing from a collection of 200 or so jazz LP's from the 50's and 60's I inherited from my grandfather when he passed away a few years back. His house was a virtual timecapsule; everything from the 50-60's left as it was... Most of the albums are in top shape, some even still sealed. I am NOT a COLLECTOR or RECORD DEALER. I can appreciate Jazz, but not in the form of LP's. Everything I learned was from reading Goldmine and Neely's book and talking to record shops. Most shops are quite anxious to buy everything, but will offer nothing and sell for ten times what they paid. So I decided to do it myself on Ebay.
I can understand condition is everything, so I believe to use the subjective rating system of NM, NM- VG+, VG++ is really not too accurate, as I have seen many LP's Listed as NM- with torn seams and scratches etc. If I listed most of this collection as I have seen many other listings, I would have to say they are all M- !!! The only way I can sell, is to state everything that makes the RECORD side A/B and COVER F/B NOT NEW. I have not played these LP's and do not have a $10,000 turntable to do so! So description will be entirely visual under 100 watt bulb or intense light source. Photos will help with the cover and label but not the record itself.
This album is BILL EVANS TRIO: Sunday at the Village Vanguard: RIVERSIDE 376. Hi-Fidelity. I believe there is only one version of this Riverside edition. Please E-mail me if you know otherwise, as I had some confusion on sealed John Coltrane IMPULSE albums which had many versions!
Cover Front: Small price sticker loosely fitted top right 6/8 by 5/8 inch. Left lower slight scrape spot 1/4 by 1/4 inch but not noticeable unless closely inspectioned. Bottom ghost of edge of record because of rubbing and white picks up dirt easy.
Cover Back: I would have to say AS NEW - Corners are sharp but there is a 1/8inch seam split top right corner Minute color patina at edges because the cover is white.
Record Side 1: Looks shiny, may have a 1/8 inch EXTREMELY LIGHT scratch on first track.
Record Side 2: Looks shiny, Maybe a scuff on first track.
This would probably deserve a NM- or VG++ rating by the catalogue. And M- by Ebay listings I have seen!
