FIRST UK PRESSING:-    Decca NOVA record labels.

       Catalogue number:- DN 12 MONO.

       Date of Release:-  February 1970.

       Title:- Bill Fay.

      Performer(s): Bill Fay.

One of he rarest of all the NOVA records. It sold in minute quantities and was soon deleted.
Not only that but this is the super rare MONO release. By 1970 only
a minute number of Mono records were issued. Stereo had by now dominated the market
and Mono's were special order only. In fact many shops would not stock mono's as there was
really no demand for them. So to find one like this is a real rarity.

Deram is a Decca subsidiary company and like Decca they produced one sleeve for mono and stereo releases.
The sleeve has a peep hole on the rear top right, The records were placed in red inner sleeves for mono
and blue sleeves for stereo. So you could tell the format without taking the record out.
Here the sleeve is red .... red for MONO.

First press Matrix marks ARL 9331.P-1A and ARL 9332.P-2A
Deram (Decca) used a series of code letters for their mother stampers based upon
the word BUCKINGHAM. First press mother stampers would have the letter B probably
for a couple of hundred discs and then move on to the letter U... then C... and so on.

Here we have amongst the VERY EARLIEST Mother stampers Side 1 "1B" and Side 2 "1U"

The front only laminated sleeve is the correct Deram one with peep hole top right rear. See photos.

The correct Decca red mono inner sleeve shows slight discolouring with age.
They all have this as the fixant ages. Usually worse than this.
This has the original dated 2-70 inner. The month the record was released.
The labels are in awesome condition with no bleaching of colours and no spindle trails.
Look at the photos to see how good these labels are.

Now for the record itself.  It plays superbly.

There are two pops but  one of these happens between tracks 1 and 2 side 2.
There are no marks no tics no clicks no repeats no jumps.

There are some pressing dimples at the end of side 1 (mentioned for
completeness) as they DO NOT sound.

I would grade as EASILY EX+.

So here we have a first press front only laminated sleeve,
first press red MONO inner sleeve with 2-70 date and first press P-1A P-2A matrix marks
AND 1B 1U Master stampers on one of  Deram NOVA rarest MONO releases.

So there is absolutely no doubt that this is an original  first press of this monster.

The Disc is FULLY PLAY TESTED. NOT JUST GUESSED AT!

YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER SOUNDING COPY!

        Rare & collectable.

        Don't miss out!.
