Description

BLACK SABBATH Paranoid (Vertigo 6360 011) RARE UK Swirl 1st Pressing MINT-
Very RARE, first UK pressing of Black Sabbath`s "Paranoid", released on Vertigo Records (September 1970).
What can one say about "Paranoid" that hasn`t already been said? Along with the lesser-known High Tide`s "Sea Shanties" (1969), this record almost singlehandedly defined the sound and style of what is now commonly referred to as "heavy metal". Including the pleading madness of "Paranoid" and the anti-war battlecry "War Pigs", this is indeed probably the "heaviest" rock album ever committed to vinyl.
A perennial classic in every sense of the word and a definite must-have.
GRADING:
EX+(+) COVER with a bit of general wear. Please see photos for details.
- Original unlaminated gatefold sleeve, as found on UK first pressings.
- A few light nicks along the spine, resulting in 2-3 white specks.
- Slight edge wear along the bottom edge only.
- Two light creases to the bottom edge (at right), as well as a very lightly creased corner.
- Two minimal spine creases (on back of sleeve).
- Lightest corner scuffing.
...and now for the really good news!

MINT- RECORD that looks practically unplayed. Simply stunning condition for its age!
- A few of the very lightest, superficial hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- Near-immaculate UK first-pressing Vertigo "swirl" labels with a single spindle line on each side.
- Impeccable, almost faultless audio reproduction throughout: Incredibly, this record wasn`t played more than a very few times in over 40 years.
- Lightest background crackle in very quiet passages of "Planet Caravan", as well as 2-3 sporadic crackles on side two.
- Comes with a hard-to-find, pitch black inner sleeve; no custom-printed Vertigo inner sleeve included, sorry.  - Matrix stamps read "1 Y // 1?420 1-(illegible)" and "2 Y // 1?420 1-1-1", respectively. This copy of "Paranoid" is clearly an extremely RARE,   very first UK pressing, as issued in September 1970.
...All said, this copy of "Paranoid" is in as near to MINT(-) condition as you`re liable to find in quite a while.
