BLACK SABBATH VOL.4 1ST PRESS 1972 UK VERTIGO SWIRL LP 6360 071 SUPERB PLAYER. Looks and plays fantastic, visually great appearance, barely a mark on it. Playwise, beautiful sound, no discernible surface noise, even in the quieter moments. I've owned a few copies of this, this is the best. I've been advised by a dealer that this is indeed a first press issue, label variant 'made in England', probably rarer than the usual variants, (see photo 5 for confirmation), with a first press sleeve also.
Stamper numbers indicate a very early press, adding to the desirability of the album.
I've researched this using discogs available data, stampers are as follows;
SIDE A
1Y//1
1 21 24
Hand etched into the run out grooves are the words
'PORKY'(swirl side).
SIDE B
2Y//1
1 1 24
and 'PECKO'(white label side).
THIS IS A RARE LABEL VARIANT OF THE U.K. FIRST PRESS, WITH ' MADE IN ENGLAND'.
The sleeve is generally excellent, spine very good and readable, all pages lovely condition. One slight fault to note, a number written in biro, see photos, not that obvious, and not really detracting from it's appearance. Original numbered vertigo inner, again in great original, slightly 'foxed', but authentic condition.
Overall, a wonderful example, getting increasingly rarer.
Delivery by ROYAL MAIL, insurance covered. Item packed in a professional mailer with stiffeners.
